| Help me out guys! Ok, I went to Malaysia to ride with my RM-Z250... which is totally stock... and it has plenty of bottom and mid Anyway, it rained heavily and the terrain got from bad to worse... It was more clay-based, and look like this: (ps: noticed that RM-Z? That's me... ) So the knobs were all screwed.... and the bike just gained many kilos Now here's the hard part... I found myself going sideways all the time... I tried to control the throttle and tried to be as gentle as possible... I either went sideways, or stalled ya I am not a good rider (I think I ride my keyboard way better and faster ) and I know I still need to clock more hours on the RMZ (only about 8 hrs under my care)... but I start to think: Will less power actually make the ride more enjoyable? Esp for the kind of terrain pictured? I feel like getting a set of off-road wheels for my X already....... (or... maybe... TE310 with tard wheelsets ) Mark... does that explain why my X is always dirty? | |

I would say it does! Maybe you need to get into 4WD vehicles, like a Jeep or something. That sloppy mud looks like it would be fun in a Jeep.

| I know she will... What do you think Mark... will the WR make a more enjoyable trail machine? The RMZ is a blast to ride over deep mud/water... but when it comes to slippery stuff, I struggle more | |

| hey mtb! nice clay mud? we get that in some places around here, the stuff is slick like a ice rink. i found how to ride in that stuff is to keep the revs down and bog it gently and it keeps you straight. for the build up of clay, you got to just fling it off with a punch of the throttle when you get in some what of a firm ground. that look like a lot of fun! | |

| Yuck! That mud looks pretty awful. I think most people would have issues with that on a bike.
I don't even like getting into that stuff in my truck, and I have a Unimog.

| I'm a dirty girl in all sense of the word. If there's mud, there's me. Hell, I've even taken my ATV up into the bush, found a nice grassy meadow next to a mudhole, and went thru it naked. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

| Please give GPS coordinates to the grassy meadow, and what time/date you will be there next. | |

| Hmmm, the threads in this new WR250R/X forum seem to degrade a lot more than on other sites. Maybe growing pains with the mods as they figure out where to draw the lines? It makes it kind of hard to sift through all the off-topic comments. Also a bit frustrating to get email notifications that comments have been made on threads I'm following then take the time to log in to find no on-topic comments. Now I'm not for a "police state", but maybe the flirting type stuff can happen in PMs rather than in the threads. But if I'm the only one thinking this way, I can bow out and am willing to stay over on Advrider and Thumpertalk instead. cheers | |

| Well, my adivse would be to first, turn off the email notifications, they can be annoying. And secondly, stay logged on, don't log off when you leave the site. When you return you are already logged on because of the cookies they give you. Now you have saved some time and aren't bothered with the emails. If you stay logged on when you leave all new posts will be highlighted and make it easy to find where you left off when you come back. Pretty much standard practice for all forums. I don't see the need for email notifications unless you REALLY need to know right now.
Personally I don't mind the humor, but aparently it bothers some people. And I do understand your points. Sorry if we bothered you.

| Judging from the number of PMs that I've already received about my post, others were thinking it but not saying it. The overall sentiment seeming to be folks just want to read the contents of the thread and not have to wade through 5 off-topic replies to get to one on-topic reply, particularly when the off-topic content is a certian type of subject matter (flirting). It seems to almost take over threads sometimes and not just this one. It's probably just growing pains for a new site and the moderators learning when to step in and delete certain types of posts. Hopefully that learning curve will ramp up quickly and, also, folks will police themselves and take it over to the "off topic" forum area, or use the PM feature, when "the mood" strikes. | |

| Well, I am as guilty of that as the rest, maybe more so. And without mentioning names, the moderators are guilty of it too. It is a new forum and like you said there are some growing pains. I like it here for the simple fact this whole forum is dedicated to my bike. I don't have to sift through hundreds of posts to find one about the WR. But I do also contribute to this forum as much as possible with my knowledge and experience. Having a little fun while doing it is part of the reason I like coming here. It's like going to work and not cracking a joke once in a while. Too serious for me. I get my work done and do it right the first time, but that doesn't mean I have to be a stuck up fuddy duddy the whole day while I'm there. My crew is good and we get the job done AND have fun while we do it. I apply the same principles here. And besides, I am not getting paid to be here, this is my hobby so for me it's time to lighten up and enjoy as far as I'm concerned. This forum is a great place for learning and sharing ideas, mods, etc... but it is also a place to get away to enjoy friends with the same interests. I don't cruise ADVRider much, but there are plenty of cut ups on TT as well, so you can't blame it all on this forum alone. I totally understand where you are coming from and mean no disrespect in what I say. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion in my book, whether I agree or not. Believe it or not I get frustrated with some of the crazy posts here too. But I just shrug it off and go read another thread. Lighten up and enjoy life. I'll try to tone it down or "take it outside" when I get the urge. Maybe others can do the same. Good day sir. | |

| So this is how this cluster started. Monsoon mud, a firefighter getting hot and a right winger complaining about going off topic by going off topic. Cool! | |

| Mud is fun, makes you a better rider! Besides, there is nothing like an extra 50 lbs, and no power, and no traction. It makes for one helluva ride!!!
