IMS 3 GALLON TALLY!

Get the 3 gallon = available sooner and you can keep your shrouds. If you really need more gas, get some small fuel jugs or a 1 gallon for the back.
It is really up to you though. All depends on what YOU need or want.

I'm going with the 3gal because 99% of the time the extra gallon is perfect for me. Thats usually when I was ready to fill up my safari anyways, even with around town riding. It'll give me more than enough room for detours and extra exploring that are inevitable with some of the dual sport rides around me, instead of limping back to camp on fumes I can not worry about gas as much. The few times I'll need more an extra 0.5gal is easy to carry in a pair of MSR bottles with my gear setup, and on a real haul I'd strap a big can to the back again. Plus I really like the look and feel of the bike with the stock shrouds.

Ok guys, deadline has been set as production will soon hit the bench. Starting tomorrow, there will be 30 days from then till Sept. 27 to get in on this deal. If you still want a tank, get on the list as I'll be sending it to IMS HQ.

Just an update: Chuck said these will not come flying out all at once. It takes one hour to make one tank, just to give you an idea. He hasn't stated what color will be first off the line; last time he said natural would be first, then blue, so I'm not sure if he's still sticking to that plan or not.

Logically he should do black first, the colour of the stock tank.

And since I'm second on the list and want black....

I'm actually now not in a hurry, no long back roads rides planned until next year.

Just got the email from IMS to call and order.

Email states they are starting with natural and blue first.

Unfortunately the 800 number given is not reachable from Canada.

Got the IMS email, called Abel and just paid for my black tank.

He said at least a week from now until they start the black production after natural and blue, but less than 3 weeks.

Hey Shewolf, since we are all crossing our fingers and waiting for the tanks, anyway you can post a list with colors to see where we all stand in line?

I don't see my name on there. I would like black.

I might have missed it but what will the low fuel light do in this new tank? Is it disconnected? Will it come on at ~ 0.5 gal left like it does now? Will it come on after I've used 1.5 gal?

If i have your e-mail, it's been forwarded and they'll notify you. Then you just go from there. As far as I know, the low fuel light still comes on at .5 gallons. Unless Wayne's tank is doing otherwise and they've done mods to that, it's supposed to be the same as the stock tank.

I received notice that the 3 gallon tank is now going into production and that they need me to verify i in fact want one and probably pay. Did any one else get the notice? Looking forward to getting mine ASAP !! Berwyn

Woohoo first natural was shipped to me this morning (along with some other goodies ) ! You guys from Canuckistan, get them to ship it USPS and save yourself the brokerage fees and nasty duty. UPS is terrible for that stuff.

Called in a paid for mine, in natural, a few minutes ago. Also took the time to order new pump screws and o-ring, since I've had mine off before I didn't want to risk galling out the old bolts (they're tiny). Also needed a couple new oil filters and seat bolts so it made sense to add $20 to my order for piece of mind.

I'll post up as soon as it gets here.

UPS Canada is borderline criminal, they charge ransom border fees.
Out of the USA it's USPS + Canada Post, otherwise I don't buy.

Don't blame UPS, blame customs. They don't set the rate, they just get raped by it.

Its going to be so nice going an extra day or three without getting gas, or having it only take two stops to play out western md, head to the ocean, etc...

BTW, from chatting with jack on the phone, aparently they're working on making the 4.5gal work without a secondary system too.
