Well I only have 55 miles on the clock, but I just came off a V-Twin Aprilia and now I'm looking at the BB kit. I can get the Athena Kit for abou $600 shipped, and have spoken with Matt about retuning my FMF. I've read that the after market head pipe is not really necessary so I'm going to stick with the stocker.

My question is directed to those who have installed it. I don't go offroad and mostly just ride it on the weekends, although I may ride it back and forth to work (41 miles one way).

Is it worth the money?
Does it make highway speeds more manageable?
Who has the most miles on their R or X with the kit?
FMF tuner settings for slip on Pipe and modded airbox?

Thanks for all forthcomming advice,

Cuban

Get the turbo kit instead.

LOL, You suggest going from $600 to $2000. I've owned a few turbo cars and one thing I know is that boosted engines don't last as long as N/A engines. I'd like this bike to last a little while. Although you did put a smile on my face and get me to thinking. scratch

I was kidding but, if it gives the bike the extra snap you'r looking for, it may be the ticket. $600= 6HP, $2000=20HP. I ride in the dirt. The turbo sticks out a little to much for that. On the street it would be perfect.

I have had the Athena BB Kit for a few thousand miles now. The kit provides a whole new experience, my friend has a stock DRZ400 and I blow his doors off both on and off road. For mods besides the BB Kit, I have the FMF Header/Pipe, K&N Filter with opened up airbox, and the FMF Programmer re-flashed by Doebeck. The Doebeck update solved my minor hickup on mid throttle and minor hot start issue. The Doebeck guys are awesome, if you go with the BB kit, its a must. The included gray box from Athena is Mickey Mouse and requires you to hack into your wiring. Just FYI the Athena Kit says the Piston service life is 15 Hours, this number represents running all out full race. I probably have 75 Hours and my bike runs better now.

Thanks Dave. I'm prob going to wait since I'm spending money on gear for myself. Maybe with taxes, of if I redeploy.
