You will need to stop at one point...

and you will need to change your brake pads and/or brake discs at one point too....

Braking
is offering some aftermarket parts for our WR, and I would like to get
some feedbacks from people who have actually used their products before

For the X, they have:
Product # Description Fitment Front | Rear Price
716SM1 SM1 Semi Metallic Pad Set (F) $24.90
716CM55 CM55 Sintered Sport Street Pad Set (F) $43.90
890SM1 SM1 Semi Metallic Pad Set (R) $29.90
890CM44 CM44 Sintered Sport Off Rd Pad Set (R) $34.95
890CM46 CM46 Sintered Race Off Rd Pad Set (R) $42.90
MR1601 Supermoto/ATV 16x18mm Front Radial Master Cylinder w/ Integrated Reservoir (replaces MC1601) (F) $349.00
KR0022 MR1601 SM Master Cylinder Replacement Lever Kit - Short $169.00
KR0023 MR1601 SM Master Cylinder Replacement Lever Kit - Long $169.00
KR0024 Left Side Remote Adjuster - For MR1601 / MC9401 Radial Master Cylinders $140.00
STX21D Braking STX Front Rotor - YAM (F) $306.90
STX21PD Braking Polished STX Front Rotor-YAM (supercedes BU01FLD) (F) $352.00

And for the R, they have:
Product # Description Fitment Front | Rear Price
772SM1 SM1 Semi Metallic Pad Set (F) $24.90
772CM44 CM44 Sintered Sport Off Rd Pad Set (F) $34.95
772CM46 CM46 Sintered Race Off Rd Pad Set (F) $42.90
890SM1 SM1 Semi Metallic Pad Set (R) $29.90
890CM44 CM44 Sintered Sport Off Rd Pad Set (R) $34.95
890CM46 CM46 Sintered Race Off Rd Pad Set (R) $42.90
MR1601 Supermoto/ATV 16x18mm Front Radial Master Cylinder w/ Integrated Reservoir (replaces MC1601) (F) $349.00
KR0022 MR1601 SM Master Cylinder Replacement Lever Kit - Short $169.00
KR0023 MR1601 SM Master Cylinder Replacement Lever Kit - Long $169.00
KR0024 Left Side Remote Adjuster - For MR1601 / MC9401 Radial Master Cylinders $140.00

On the subject of "PADs"... which one is better for commuting? Which is better for occasional track day?

The SM compound? or the CM compound?

I have no experience with their products, so I need opinions...

thanks Very happy

I used Braking equipment when riding supermoto: pic1 - pic2 but was not happy with brake pads (braking caliper with stock metal braking pads). The rotors are nice, however. All in all, this front brake was not as strong as it looks like, so in case you are searching for real good braking performance, you might have to dig into details very much and ask for racers experiences when combining pads, caliipers and rotors to get satisfied for your money.
Several years ago, I rode some Gasgas 2stroke supermoto with complete stock equipment, which offered better braking performance. As far as I can recall, this was brembo equipment. Not sure, however.

Thanks for your valuable review thumb

Actually I find the stock package (disc+pad+caliper) is pretty decent (maybe I don't ride hard enough? Shog )... It's just that my pads are pretty thin already, and soon I will need to get them replaced. I could order the stock pads again, but they are not exactly cheap, and with that price, I might as well go for a set of aftermarket pads Rolling Eyes

The racing stuff is usually designed to perform properly and not wear out or glaze under extreme use, usually this mean's it doesn't really bite well until it is up to a certain operating temperature
For commuting this is a bad thing as you may need to panic brake with cold brakes
After market is good for special application's (Mud or extreme temp's) sometimes or possibly cheeper but not always better

All I ever use are EBC brake pads. Never had any problems with them. thumb I have them on my DH MTB too.

So has anyone actually changed the pads for their WR yet? May it be X or R...

If you have, please list down the brand/model number/X or R/price/Feedback bow

----EBC is the only pads that ever went into my downhill mt bikes. even when i got a new bike or brake system, the stockers went on the shelf for sale and EBC went in. When its tome for the R to get some new pads, EBC ONLY IMO.

I've tested 5 or 6 sets of pads on my ZRX1200 with Braking wave rotors. I'm now using Ferodo XRAC pads and they are the best by far (powerful, great feedback, long lasting, kinda pricey though). Side benefit is they are very clean with very little dust. Not much of an issue if you are offroad but it's a nice benefit for a streetbike.

I just ordered a set of Dunlopad HH Sintered pads. The sintered pads should give more initial bite than the stockers. I find the stock brakes to be quite soft and require a lot of lever force to generate serious braking force.

The weakest link in the X's brakes is that crappy caliper. Not sure if we have any choices to replace it with something better.

The next best option is a steel line and a decent set of high friction pads.

Found this page that list the ferodo part numbers as well as other companys part numbers and at the bottom has cross reference lists with all the bike models that use these size pads.

I ended up getting the thicker FDB664 ferodo because I found the HH ones on ebay for 15 shipped, same size pad as my cbr f3. They fit great, same size pads as my cbr f3.
