| I'm not sure if its just me but I really hate the looks of the stock headlight and was wondering if anybody has replaced theirs with an aftermarket option? pics would be appreciated. | |

| I have been eying a dual 4" setup, doctorenduro has a ton of light setups at http://doctorenduro.com/index.php?main_page=dual_sport_enduro_race_lights not sure which fit up and how though. I would really be interested in seeing a dual headlight on a WR. | |

Has anyone tried retrofitting one of these KTM headlights on their WR? I really like the look of the XCW.

| I've got an old EXC headlight (<04) installed on my WR, it isnt a very difficult install as the KTM also has a H4 headlight, so you dont need to mess with the electrics at all. You wont need the KTM headlight fasteners that go on the front suspension, as they wont fit because the WR's speedo is too big. However, the headlight will stay on just fine if you ziptie it to the stock headlights structure parts. You will also want to either upgrade to a KTM fender, or improvise a pair of struts on your current fender in order to get the headlight to stay on from the bottom. Here's a pic of my KTM EXC headlight and SM fender: | |

I ordered one of these yesterday as my new WR250R has a crack in the headlight and therefore can't get roadworthy, it's great to know it will fit! It was a longshot I just took the measurements and went with it. Considering the price difference is $350 to $67 I'm pretty happy, what are Yamaha thinking? Ripping people off like this makes me distrust their brand.

All I can say is if you do much riding at night make sure you get one that is DOT approved. The PO of my new rude caught a rock in the stock light and put on a polisport light. It looks ok but is a POS. You can not see much past maybe 15' in front of the bike. It has two of the reflector type bulbs that look similar to the noma deck lights. One was a 12/35w and the other a 12/50w I run on highs full time and can easy out ride the headlight. As soon as I can I'm gonna change it back to the stock as I do lots of night riding. I did a google search for wr250r headlight and found a place called fourstrokesonly.com. They have a listing for replacement lens for us for around $60. I have not ordered yet but will be soon. They are a bit difficult to order from which you will see if you go to their website. Once I get mine changed back to OEM. I will have a polisport one for sale cheap

| There is also a list of other bikes on the website that apparently have the same type of lens, aprilla ktm. Might be able to just get one of those lenses as a replacement. For right now I am trying something on the cheap side possibly effective. I went to the local auto parts store and picked up a high beam bulb from one of the older car 4 light systems. it is small enough to fit into the bucket. I simply am gonna try silicone to see if it will hold it in place on the oem bucket mount, might keep a zip tie on as well for backup in the rough stuff??? then try wiring it up to only one side of the switch. At least then I should have a better headlight until my UFO shows up in the next couple days. I tired to phone 4strokesonly today but only got an answering machine. If anyone has any luck ordering one I'd gladly pay you to order 2 and ship me mine.... | |

| Well tonight I took the polisport light off. I got a UFO from eBay to try but it just won't work right. Still have another idea for it if this one fails. But what I did was put a high beam from and old 4 bulb system into the stock hood. Seems to be ok only thing is only one bulb so if it goes there is no headlight at all. But it was less then $20 to try. Might get me thru till I can get something figured out.
The othe thing us if I switch the bulb to low beams. It goes out so I can run in the rough stuff with out risk of blowing it

| I just fitted a WR450 headlight to mine. 2 small brackets that I found in the shed to bring the top mount points forward and out a bit and a couple bolts. No modifications to the original bike needed. Pictures a bit crap cause it's dark and rainy out there at the moment. | |

| Went out today and looked at a KTM 2002 EXC400. The lens appears to be the same one as used in our wrr's so I ordered one up and will test fit in a few days. The KTM price at the Canadian dealer is $113 It looks like this will be an exact fit but will know shortly. | |

| Ok so today was a busy day for me which I will explain in another post but I would like to tell anyone that has a broken stock headlight that one from a pre 04 exc will fit in our bikes no problem. They are a little bit different as they do not have the breathing port hole and KTM uses the small bulb hole. But they are less then half price and work perfectly. | |
