| For anyone looking for DS helmets that arent fugly or just a bubble with a DS lense, or obsurdly expensive (cough shoei cough), have a look at these My top 3 votes: 1. the fly racing Trekker helmet:~130 2: the AFX FX37 series: ~$100 and 3. FX39 series: ~$100 the fx39 and the trekker seem to have very similar curvature, but the fly has a few more vents and curves. All of the helmets come in varuous other paint schemes. | |

| I got a shock the other day, looking at prices of the latest Arai TourX3, to replace my Orange TourX that is a few years old now....
The Arai has given me years of faultless service, and with spending $$$ on the bike, a new Arai is a small price to spend on my head ;)

| I really like the look of that Fly Racing Trekker helmet. How is the airflow in these types of helmets compared to regular full face helmets, and motocross type helmets?
This post sure says helmet a lot. Helmet.

| I have the AFX FX39 and it flows a lot of air, maybe too much if its really cold. Not as much as an open face helmet, but enough to keep you comfortable in the summer. It fits really well too, at least for my head shape. | |

| I bought the FX37 when it first came out and I was very disappointed in it. The neck strap was too far back so it felt like it was choking me and the face shield had strange optics that made me feel nauseous. Made me a bit nervous about trying another discount dual sport helmet. I recently purchased an Arai XD3 and it's the best helmet ive ever had. With the XD4 being released there are some good deals to be had on XD3's. | |

This post sure says helmet a lot. Helmet. I bought a Trekker last year & it flows a lot more air than a regular full faced street helmet. My other helmets are a Shoei RF2000 & TRZ. These are quieter than the Trekker at highway speed but don't flow as much air especially at slower speeds. I assume an open face of any type would pass the most air & be the noisiest.

| The FX39 and the Trekker are essentially the same shell, different padding which kind of offsets them by a half size. I was between sizes on the Trekker so went with the FX39 and it fits pretty well. I'm a fan and wear mine regularly. ETA - Didn't realize the age of this post, not as many folks around here as there are at ADV and the like . | |

| I got a Bilt helmet with an internal dropdown sun visor. Pretty happy with it so far, had about 6 months. http://www.cyclegear.com/CycleGear/Off-Road/Motocross-Helmets/Dual-Sport/brand/BILT/Explorer-Adventure-Helmet/p/43199_200897_199 | |

| Absolutely love my fly trekker. Order a size larger though! They are tight! Its like a motocross helmet with no wind or goggles. The view is amazing out of them too instead of looking through the goggle "tunnel". | |

Great looking helmet & nice price! I like the flip down tinted lens too. Hows the airflow & weight compared to the Trekker if you've had experience with both?

| Anyone seen the AFX FX-41 yet? Comes out this month, I think I'll probably be picking one up. Internal sun visor on this one too and I think it looks pretty good. | |

| Dont have any experience with the trekker, but the weight and fit on the bilt is good. its very comfortable even over long rides, however the ventilation is not the greatest. I find myself cracking open the visor a lot on warm days. The drop down sun shade is by far my favorite feature, i probably wouldnt by a helmet without it at this point. | |

It's interesting reading the webbikeworld reviews of the FX-39 and the Trekker, they're damn near the same helmet but the reviewer much preferred the AFX. I've got an FX-39, I'll probably hold onto it until I'm set on the one I like more. FWIW, doesn't sound like the FX-41 can accommodate goggles. If you're looking to pick one up, check with Brian at Atomic Moto, I've spent a lot of money with him over the years and he has never steered me wrong. He's usually a push over with a discount too .

| I have the fly Trekker, only fault I see is the shield is in your field of vision when raised. Good venting, light weight | |

| I picked up an AFX FX-41 recently on a whim. Slightly different sizing than the 39 and it has a build in drop-down sun shield which is a nice touch. Less peak pull too, it's become my go to lid around town. | |

| If you can stand to pony up another $10: http://dualsportalchemy.com/2013/10/product-review-ls2/
I currently have an AFX-39 and like it well enough (only real problems are finding goggles that fit is a beotch, too much faceshield distortion, a real ear-pincher taking it on and off). This review compares the MX453 to the AFX, and I think I will go for the MX next time around.
