Anybody know someone, or are you someone who believes the world will end in about ten more days?

I don't personally know anyone who believes this stuff.

My (now deceased) mother was, unfortunately, one of them, a life-long Roman Catholic religous fanatic, and I don't know how many times I picked up one of her pamphlets and read how this, that, and the other thing was going to destroy everyone and everything (except a chosen few) in 1989, then 1996, then 2000 (that was a biggie), and on and on and on.

Pretty comical when you start assigning dates to these supposed events, yet the roosters still crow the next morning and I still have to get up for work. ;)

I'm working that day. Not that I believe that horseshit, I'll be out doing what I love; being out in the bush and making ppl laugh.

OMG do I have to really post an answer to the drivel? Scripture clearly says "No man shall know the day or the hour when the end shall come." A clear marking of a false prophet is his or her declaration of a definitive date divine in origin or calculated. Not that I would give credence to any such talk anyhow. I remember a book published in 1988 giving 88 reasons the rapture was to commence 8:08 08/08/88. People were doing the same stuff, selling everything, quitting their jobs, and placing all their financial abilities into spreading the message. Time came and went, people were shocked and heart broken. Meanwhile someone made a boatload of dough... any guesses who? Ya, the author. He retired rather nicely. Claimed it was in shame.

Scripture also teaches there will be 7 years tribulation after the rapture, so where do these nutjobs come up with 153 days after the rapture, the world will end?

These are the people who give "religion" a bad name.

On May 21 I'll riding near, and partying in, downtown Glen New Hampshire, along with about 50 other New England Denizens of Doom.
I doubt we'll notice anything unusual, either way.

Has anyone read how Camping figures May 21st is the day? Read this and follow along if you can. It's absolutely absurd.

"Camping says that because Jesus was crucified on Friday, April 1, 33 AD, and that it takes exactly 365.2422 days for the earth to complete one orbit of the sun, we can conclude that, on April 1, 2011, Jesus was crucified exactly 722,449.07 days ago. Add 51 days to this to get to May 1, and you get a figure of 722,500.07.

Round that down to the nearest integer, and you get 722,500, which is an important number because it is the square of 5 x 17 x 10 . The number five, says Camping, represents atonement. Ten represents completeness, and 17 represents heaven. Multiply all these together – twice – and you get 722,500. Therefore the apocalypse kicks off on Saturday, May 21."
