Hated The Blue - Started painting again

So the white fender paint held up really well.

Today, the weather is kinda crappy, so I removed the tank shrouds and headlight shroud.
Then I removed the factory stickers.

Then the paint started flying.

Pics to come when I get to a point where I'm happy with the progress.

I need at least one more can of white. Plus - something special to set my X apart from all the others.

The tank shrouds and headlight shroud are really funky things to try and paint. So many contours, bends, folds, and angles.

What really sucks is now I can't ride until I totally finish the painting.

As long as you don't get any hangers it'll look awesome! Oh and fish eyes suck.

I'm not looking for a motorcycle show piece.

If you recall - I'm a dirty boy.

Multiple coats, and then something to set it apart from others and I'll be good.

If it looks sharp from 5 feet away or more I'll be ecstatic.

But yes...I already had to scrape a bug out of the first coat of wet paint.....

Oh shit...yeah that's got to be one of the worst things. That or dog hair. So you'll really be a dirty white boy after this endeavor.

No worries Adam....no worries.

Can't go naked on the bike right now because the headlight is dangling by it's wires.....you need that shroud to hold it in place.

Is that a pearl white ? Or just straight-up white ?

Straight up I guess.....

Yeah, our weather here is going to really suck this week. I guess that's what we get for having such nice weather last week huh.

So - keep in mind this is a rough idea......rough.

NOT the final product.

I really need to think about what I want to do with this next.


But here's the paint as it sits now.

And yes - an all black seat will be an addition to come soon.

way to dare to be differant and make your wr differant from the rest. Looks really sweet. I love the white. With a new black seat your getting it will really help to complete the color skeem. Maybe give 'er a bath to compliment the new paint.

looks great, seat should really clean it up alot too.

The white you painted and the white of your side covers dont match though :(

ah really? i think it looks awesome, maybe paint the sidecovers red so the red flows to the tail, while the white stripes the top. maybee a decal kit to break up some lines?

How is the paint holding up on the edges where you trimmed the front fender?

Very nice!! I really like how you did the red stripe....... a new black seat cover definitely will finish the look. My paint is holding just fine........ I painted it about 6 months ago.
