I also belive that this is a electrical issue.

I wrote in the fuelpump problem tread about my problems also.

Now the other day on a 45km trip it died 9 times just shortly (1-2 sec) and then continues like nothing happened....

Really annoying and could eventually cause an accident if you are taking a curve in highspeed and suddenly it dies....you will definatily change direction....

Today i took away the cover on the left side in front of the wing so you can se the coolant tank and there you also have some fuses. They got a spray of contact spray and was removed and inserted again. And also all visible contacts at that area was separated and sprayed. Checked battery connections too and tightened the screws (again) and also checked ground on engine.
But cannot testride anything today because i took everything apart to change to the fatbar...

I have a feeling it has to do with the fmf pp I had no issues with mine in 1400 miles and I put the fmf pp and that is when it started I'm thinking of putting it back stock and seeing what it does, all I have to do is put the door back on the air box. See what happens with .5 across (stock map) it will tell if it's the fmf stuff or the tune on my bike.

The new coil helped a lot, improved power and gas mileage significantly, but its still randomly studdering. I'm going to try pulling the programmer later this week and see if that helps. If not, I'll probably order a new fuel pump...

mattnadz looks like you were right for my set up and it was the PP. Thanks for the help guys.

Just an update on my bike... I have about 300 miles on now with the new settings and the bike is still running great.

Dobeck Performance build the box's for FMF. Great guys there, the number is (877)764-3337. Give them a call and let them know your mods and they will tell you how to set it.

I cannot still believe its the settings causing this....

Cruising speed as always.. about 90km/h constant throttle.

Today my bike died several times just shortly because i adjust the throttle as soon as it happens.
But at one time i tried to keep the throttle in the same position when it died and then it wouldnt come back, it just died even more (just sputtering some).
Too bad i didnt try to keep it that way until it died but i had traffic behind so i had to let it go....
Because as soon as i adjusted the throttle it came back.

So.. is it really a fuel problem or is it electrical...?

Disconnect the fuel programmer and reconnect bike with stock harness and take for a short ride.

See what happens.

How could weather have a factor in this problem? Today I was on my way to work it did it to me so bad I had to down shift (not just a sputter), it only did it when the bike was still cool (not to full temp) weather was about 70 and 85% humidity. Here in Fresno it's normally hot and dry, but it did it again on my way home 3 more times 85 and 50% humidity. So I cleaned the air filter and I was going to disconnect the programmer, weather I supposed to be the same and I have the day off so I can try som different stuff. scratch

Are all the people who are having troubles with power loss in 6th gear using FmF programmers?

Has anybody had this issue in stock trim, or with a PC III or PC V?
Or with an Attitude Industries programmer?

Is the common theme here the FmF programmer?

dunno

Because I just ordered one and have terrible luck... I'm going to say yes. I'll find out if my luck holds true once it's installed next week.

Mine was in 5th gear about 45mph but the numbers I posted before seem to have fixed it for me. I'm at about 430miles with no problems but cold wether is comming and I will keep you up to date Very happy With the numbers I posted I've never had a 6th gear problem.

So - just for giggles - all you guys with FmF PP and stalling/stuttering in 6th gear issues - maybe you should try these numbers and see what happens?

3 - 4 - .5 - 8 - 4 - 4.5

I tired that initially and it ran worse on my bike. Finally diconnected that programmer today, see what happens... also mine would do it in any gear, normally mid rpms and low throttle levels. Never happened while flogging it, seems to be independant of weather.

I would start with them and tell them what you have and what you want (weather and all) they may help you out. Their settings worked great for me in the summer but may change in WI fall...... not sure. The temp on the way home tonight was 48F and it still ran great but I need to get out the winter leather Very happy

I actually e-mailed them yesterday and told them about the problem.

The answer i got was that the 5th figure in the settings, IF set too low it can interfeer with the cruising mode and should be set to a figure about (4-6).
5th number is what controlls tha acc fuel function (how fast it will react to throttle response)

So it can cause cutouts because of the interfeering.
Other figures seemed good.......

I will connect it this weekend and try it some more. Have to see it before I believe it.
I hope it works though....

Hmm. Maybe I'll reinstall after I burn through most of this tank and have a free minute to think. Bike is running fine again without the programmer though... and I never had a problem on the first bike.

3 - 4 - .5 - 8 - 4 - 4.5
and bike still poops in 6th gear
ais removed, flapper removed, fmf pp, and some holes drilled in the muffler

my question is the vaccum line for the flapper.... do you guys think maybe the bike will lose power because the vaccum builds up and has no where to go??

as far as i know the flappers will close a highway speeds?

any body agree?

The vacuum will go into the engine, where its going to go anyways. Its the programmer, which btw your bike really doesn't need as its basically stock.

3 - 4 - .5 - 8 - 6 - 4.5 <--- see above yellow stuff, then try the numbers to left (see yellow)

Or - remove FmF programmer altogether and see what happens.

I think you should also try to lower 1st and second figure 1 step each.
Many of us having such figures has taken the airboxlid away and have full exhaust systems.
Your bike is mildly changed so it may actually get too much fuel when you put in sixth gear and lower your rpms.
Or you can try to just take the lid away and take it for a spin, see what hapens. NOT RECOMENDED FOR OFF-ROAD USE deal
But then you will probably see a reaction of the fuel/ air mix.

just my cents.....

I have still not tested my own bike enough to determine if the problem is solved.
But i have rode it for about 40km since i changed my fifth figure from 1 to 5.
Not a singel dead spot since.....
(i have to admit motokid...that you may have been right about this..) Shog

moving that number to 6 also seems to have fixed my stalling issue while cruising... it is a little upsetting that you have to call them or search the forums to find out about that bug.

Hi,
Mods ais, powercommander, leovince, exup, airflap...

Commader is two years old and adjusted in dynocenter.
Now i have problem, bike dies sometimes (maybe once in 50km cruise) when cruising on low speed.
And dies also sometimes when doing down shifting just pull the clutc and not throttle at all.
Seems that sometimes it won't idle but only when cruising, i just adjusted idle speed higher -> no help.
Everything else works fine, no hesitation or sputtering or any these kind of things, what might be the problem ?

This is a new problem? After two years of riding with no changes to any part of the bike?

What does "adjusted in dynocenter" mean? You had a professional tune while being tested on a dyno?

Have you checked your air filter? Is it clogged or restricted somehow?
Is it possible your battery is dying?

What year is your bike? A 2008 perhaps?

What model of powercommander? a PCIII or PCV?

Your mods are pretty standard. Might you be willing to try downloading another map and seeing what that does for your issues?
