| I have an X with stock gearing and am looking for a little more bottom end and a little more RPM in 6th at 65mph. I have no plans to really exceed 65 by much but do still commute about 30ish miles one way to work on occasion so I don't want to give up the ability to be comfortable at highway speeds.
What sprocket combo would be best? Seems to be a lot of info about the R version, and some regarding some huge rear sprocket choices for stunting, but how about for my situation? Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated!

| I ended up going with 13/46. I can't comment on the feel yet as the parts haven't arrived.
If you want extra flexibility in your chain tension without having to worry about eating the swing arm you can swap to a 14 tooth in the front and something huge out back. You get into a lot more options in brands, sizing, styling, and colors of rear sprocket once to get to 48 tooth and above.
I didn't want to go that big with a 13 front but may change my mind after riding the 13/46 combo for a while.

| I have 13/46. I think it's as good as you can get a for on and off road. I've had mine up to 80mph indicated without hitting the limiter. | |

| If you want to play with different ratios divide the rear sprocket tooth count by the front.
Stock X is 13/42. That works out to 3.230. 13/46 = 3.538 14/49 = 3.500
The bigger the number, the shorter the gearing (more acceleration, less top speed). You can keep playing with the numbers though. It will give you an idea of how much change a given combo will effect the final ratio.
Me, I'm not terribly displeased with the stock gearing. I could stand to go a little lower so I'm opting for a 14/47 combo (3.357). I've got my rear sprocket already. Still need to purchase the front sprocket and a new chain (always replace as a set!).

| I am liking a 14/49 combo. 6th gear comfortable cruise at 65 was my goal. Can easily run 75 if pushed. | |

| i have 13/49 --- great up until 65ish --- then kinda screaming.
I like it for now - but will prob switch to a 45 or 46 once the winter comes ---- gives me something to do in the winter.
I just installed the speedo correct thingie also. easy enough to do and program.

| 13/48 rocks!!! Tops out about 84mph. Hits rev limiter at 64 mph in 4th gear. Fuck that "I don't plan to go over 65" crap..... You'll be surprised at how stable and planted the X is, and you'll be wishing for more over 80mph more often that you can believe. Stock gearing is weak. Make the change. You'll be glad you did. New chain and new sprockets. _________________ 2008 WR250X Gearing: 13t - 48t Power Commander 5 / PC-V Airbox Door Removed - Flapper glued - AIS removed FmF Q4 Bridgestone Battlax BT-003rs

New chain and new sprockets. is that indicated speed or actual? with my 13/49 sprockets, the indicated speed was 22% off ! I am all corrected now though.
