| I notice that in the "2012 overview" that's currently listed there is no wr of any sort.
click me <--Hmmm
Seems very odd in that I wouldn't expect a design change or anything, so why would they not mention the wr's?
They're still showing the crappy XT and TW.

| Basically, they will do things the way they see fit. "They" being Yamaha Motor corp., USA, and the Yamaha factory back in Japan. If you ask a Yamaha sales rep, he'll more than likely concoct a B.S. answer for you, or simply politely tell you (in other words) that it's none of your business, where in reality, he doesn't know, either. :)
It's fairly common for some new models to be announced around mid-year, and the rest in the fall. This also applies to carry-over models that are unchanged.

| Economic downturn, I don't expect much from them other than bold new graphics on existing models. Maybe some small incremental changes here and there, mainly on spotlight models. They spent too much money designing the WR250 though, I can't see them dropping it. If anything, I could see them making a lighter pure off-road model based on it or put its motor in a quad. | |

| I wonder if that's setting up an early 2013 release of a larger bore, true motard from Yamaha?
Empty the showroom floors of the 250x then blow everybody away with something new for 2013????
That's my hope anyway.

Would be nice but with no hint or leaks...... What blows me away is they would get rid of the X and keep the TW200

| The answer to every question is money Almost all the WRX's were discounted and didn't fly off the floor so lower profit and high warehousing/flooring cost etc TW speaks to a completely different customer and still sells well | |

WI they are picking up quick. All the NEW 2008,2009's are selling at dealers for $5000/5500 and going fast. I work at a comunity college and last year I never saw one supermoto and this year with my X we have 2 X's and one DR400SM. I have two instructors at work with big BMW's that like my bike and want a smaller bike to "flip around town with". If they open the market up and stay with the 250X and offer a 400+ with close to the same specks on weight they could be looking at a big market.

| Big price drop in Canadian dollars. $6999 vs $7999 last year. Sheesh.
Still $499 cheaper in the states.

erm...no. Are you old enough to remember the fzr400 and fzr600? Americans do not buy small displacement motorcycles. That's why I'm guessing and hoping that the discontinued 250x means something larger is coming next model year. It would be marketing suicide to offer both the 250x and something more prone to taking on the KTM and Husky machines offered. | Since when does YAMAHA make marketing decisions that make sense to us? So who knows!!! Americans want big, heavy, slow, poor handling CRUISERS. I wanted one too... in 1975. So boring to me now. I do agree that YAMAHA has holes in it's lineup. A bigger displacement DS, and an adventure tourer to compete with the Wee Strom/Versys. The only other bike they make now that interests me is the new FI wr450f. My next bike will be a Suzuki (VStrom). Would absolutely LOVE a bigger R or X, even XT, but not holding my breath.

| The Super Tenere is sweet, but over a hundred pounds heavier, and $13000 !!! Not in the same class as the WEE STROM or the VERSYS. Glad they are offering it in the U.S. now. | |

street legal and sumo tires? can it be done? Anything can be done for a price. Might be a whole lot cheaper to buy a KTM or Husky. _________________ 2008 WR250X Gearing: 13t - 48t Power Commander 5 / PC-V Airbox Door Removed - Flapper glued - AIS removed FmF Q4 Bridgestone Battlax BT-003rs
