new turn signals smoking

I just put on my new drc edge tail light kit, and I whent cheap-o on the signals and got these http://www.cyclegear.com/spgm.cfm?L1=&L2=&L3=&L4=&item=PRC_SM-AIN1 , from cycle gear. Whenever I turn them on they smoke a little bit from inside the lens. Anybody had any expereince with these signals? I'm thinking they are either just cheapo bulbs, or the wattage is somehow wrong(they are supposed to work with any 12v setup), or maybe it has something to do with the running light wire???

Careful, electrical devices have a very precise amount of smoke inside to let them work.
If you let any of that smoke out...who knows what'll happen.

That's right. Once the smoke comes out, you'll have a hell of a time trying to get it back it. I've never been able to get it all back in.

I got the LED version of the same lights from cycle gear and haven't had a problem. You may want to pop the cover off and make sure that there isn't any wiring touching the bulb. That smoke might be the insulation burning off a wire.

I have a very similar set of signals on my Beta. Check your instructions and your wiring again. You must make sure that the turn wire and the running light wire are not crossed. The turn filament is brighter than the running light filament and is not designed to be on all the time. Also, if you are not using the running light option, the directions are specific on how to wire it for that scenario.
