| I haven't seen anything yet for the ass end; not sure if Ohlins or Sachs makes one for this bike yet. When are you bringing the bike in? That's where I got my bike from. Mark in Service is a great guy to deal with and a personal friend. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

| Hmmm, I should check mine. It seems I keep dialing in more and more damping and still don't have enough. I think I'm out of adjustment now.
Unfortunately I have not found anyone making a better shock. I've been looking at this since I got the WRX. It's pretty good out of the box, but for larger people, the rear shock is the weak point. Here's my research so far: - There had been talk of Ohlins making one but I have heard no more and nothing appears on their lists. - Racetech offers a valve kit for the stock shock, but not a complete shock. - I have not heard back from my enquires with Hyperpro or Penske. - Many people say that these shocks are easy to rebuild, but I'm not interested. - RMR suspension in Vancouver Canada has been recommended as a good place for a rebuild. - Rick at motocd.com whom I've dealt with in the past isn't familiar with the WR, but has built many shocks including the Moab shock for the KLR and could either rebuild the stock unit with Racetech valving, or build a custom shock for the WR if required.

| Well, if you want to go THAT route and have a custom set of forks and rear shock made, and you're in Vernon, go to Kal Lake Motorsports and talk to Rod the mechanic. He's an incredibly gifted guy and does some awesome stuff when it comes to suspension. Being from Revelbush, it's about as local as you're gonna get. I'm going to look into it myself one of these days. He also builds wheels. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

| Good info. I don't really want the down time this summer, so I'm trying to make my shock last. Not sure if it's going to make it. | |

| That's great there's another WR nearby. Revelstroke (as my Grandfather used to call it) is one of our favorite areas. We'll have try to get together with the B.C. folks some time this summer. Probably heading out there on the Ducatis in early July. Planning for a week DualSporting in the Kootenay's at the end of July. | |

| Loose Screw is being held on private land out past the Wildlife Park. I used to live in Kamloops too but moved away back in 97...when the place still stunk to pulp mill. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

| I can assure you that Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated. Yes, Pulp mill smell bad. Plans for July are shaping up and looking positive. I'll post up in the Canada thread when we have confirmation that we'll be DSing at the end of July. | |

Well, if by the Kootenays you mean the East Kootenays rather than the Weird Kootenays, get in touch when you hit the area. I think the CF has their hooks into me for a bunch of that month, particularly at the end of the month (27th to 3d or something like that), and a buddy and his new KLR are supposed to show up for a Testosterone Only Tour of a few days down in Montana. But hopefully I'll be around or at least be able to arrange a place for a shower and to crash if you'll be around a few days. Hopefully, I'll have had the chance to wear the "new" off my WR by then. New bike... no time to ride. Aaaarrrrggggghhhhhh. If you're thinking of the Grey Pass, should be good to go by then, but this has been a really cold spring and in fact we got another dump of snow up high just this week.

We'll likely hit the East and the wierd. We tend to wander a bit. We may also take the Unimog and set up a base camp up somewhere so we can be 'light' for a change. Normally when we DS in the region we're on loaded KLRs which leave something to be desired. Grey Creek Pass is one of our favorite routes. Be it VW, Unimog, or motorcycle, it's a great long-cut. Hopefully it will be clear in July, but we've seen the summit snowed in every month of the year. A meet up is possible, we'll have to see how things go. You do seem inclined to pick fights though, and I'm a traveler, not a fighter.

Cool. Haven't really seen a Unimog up close since my tour over in Yugo in '93. Our medics ran them and half the time lived right out of them. Their ambulance, treatment station, and home away from home all in one. One hit a mine and actually came out of it quite well - but that was before they developed the nasty habit of stacking five or six mines on top of each other, which made surviving a mine strike pretty much impossible for anything up to and including a tank (which we didn't have anyways). I can certainly see the possibilities they allow for base camping and stuff. More flexibility than we have with our 26' travel trailer with the axles flipped. As for snow every month of the year, on my way down to Montana yesterday, I see we had a big fresh dump of snow all the way down to what looks like about the 4000' level on The Steeples, so I imagine the St. Maries drainage really got hammered. - Quote :

You do seem inclined to pick fights though, and I'm a traveler, not a fighter. I confine my fighting to where the CF wants me to fight. Other than that, I'm just have this crazy idea that everyone has an absolute right to their opinion - but it really helps if it's an informed opinion that can be backed up by logic and rational. Hate that "everybody knows" crap... Other than that, life is about being in the mountains, flyfishing, hunting, etc. Oh... and jumping out of an airplane at 0300 H., 800' AGL with 60 of your best buddies... Just had a thought here thinking about that snow. About 30 years ago, we used to 4x4 over the old Coco Claims road from Elkford into the White Swan drainage - if I remember, I think that's Crossing Creek. Shot a lot of moose up there, saw a few 4x4's roll down into the creek, etc. That road will be long, long gone... but I wonder if there's till a bike/ATV route still in existance. Be a great trip. I can see where the KLR's would be a great platform over in the Weird Kootenays for riding around Sandon, Silverton, etc. Never have done any riding over there, however. I have a buddy dropping in sometime in July with his new KLR, so if I'm around when he gets here, I'll have a chance to see what that's like.

| You guys ever run into a guy named Dave George up in the Interior? Lives around Osprey Lake or something like that? He'll be in his mid 50's.
Grew up and raced motocross with him in Marysville back in the 60's and 70's. He ended up having that huge Yamaha/Harley Davidson dealership in Chilliwack, which he sold about... ten years ago or so...
Hell of a rider, and I can't imagine him just sitting on his duff enjoying retirement.
