Fire Hazard Empty
PostSubject: Fire Hazard   Fire Hazard EmptyFri Jul 10, 2009 11:34 pm

After a ride through thick bush I smelt burning coming from the header pipe. A green stick and leaves were stuck in between the pipe and heat guard and ingnited meaning dead grass, leaves ect, ect would burst into flames easily which could be a disaster in bush fire prone Australia. Has anyone else had this problem and will replacing the stock exaust with Q4, GYTR, ect solve this or wil a new header be needed as well.
Thanks for any help.

The Q4 has a sparky in it, so no spark fly out from that. As for getting branches and stuff caught in there, one has to be cogniscant and check when you stop after you ride thru the scrub. I make a habit of checking that stuff too because here in BC fires can really go nuts with all the dead bug killed trees all over the place. Ironically I'd end up getting dispatched to the fires out here anyways. Very happy

I run into that most days that I ride to work. I take a short cut through some tall grass and weeds. Often when I park I notice the smell. It took me a bit to figure out what it was.

I don't think you're at much risk of the foliage suddenly bursting into flames though. A bit of a smouldering hot smell from the hitch hikers is likely about it.
