For you guys that do the quick wheel swaps, do you find that you need to make any suspension height changes to account for the differences in wheel diameters? I'm contemplating a Warp 9 wheel set for my WR250R, for general around-town hooliganism, and I want the swaps back and forth to be fairly quick'n easy. The actual wheel changes would be a piece of cake, assuming I don't have to change brake setups, but having to screw around with suspension heights will lengthen that time considerably, at least for me. I've got the front dropped about 15mm and the rear about 35mm, and I find that geometry works well for me. The front's not too bad to change, but the rear is a pain in the, well, rear baldy

I have both setups and I decided to make the bike work for the dirt wheels because I find that it is more important for the bike to handle the bush better. If I was racing with the SMoto setup then I may play with the suspension. One thing I like, is I can almost flatfoot when I have the SM wheels on. All depends on how you want the bike to handle in the different situations. All I do with the SMoto is commute so it doesn't matter TO ME what the suspension does on the road but in the bush I want it to be nice.

By far the majority of my riding is with the SuMo wheels, but the bike is lowered for when I put the dirt wheels on, otherwise I'd spend way too much time tipping over Rolling Eyes GAHHHH

It used to be that that highway speed on the dirt wheels I had a terrifying headshake going on. We lowered the triples (slid the forks up) just a smidge more (only about 1mm) and the bike handles much better with the dirt wheels, and still handles well with the street wheels (yes, I ride on the track - so it matters plenty to me Very happy )

Moral of my story - you may need to tweak things a bit to get there, but it is definitely possible to have the suspension height adjusted to suit both sets of wheels without further piddling about.

Thanks! thumb thumb

I should've added that I'm not too worried about the overall height, but rather the change in geometry. It seems to me that going to a much smaller wheel in the front will lower the front and make the turn-in a lot quicker.

WRT the side-stand problem, I'd had an idea for that one. But someone stole it poser2 See this post here from yesterday ...

Correct. However I think the stock Rs come with the forks dropped a little bit. So if you run the forks in the X position it would make the offroad package more sluggish than a factory R without being too "twichy" in X trim.

I run my X forks level with the top clamp and if I turn in too quick the front will try to wash out (a problem I didn't have with the taller Shinko 705s). I don't think I'd run the smaller tire package with raised forks unless you drop the rear to compensate.

I run the forks about 4mm above the triple. The rear is lowered with the Yamalink and the stock rear setting is almost full extend. It is slower in X and a little quicker in R form.
