| Looks wicked, I have a set that can fold in and out whenever I want... I usually keep them folded in all the time unless I am putting around in city traffic. | |

| went to ace hardware and bought 2 barrel bolt latches. Just need the end pieces. Payed like $3.50 each. If you have maybe an appliance store around, they make these pieces in stainless steel for water lines and such. Take a look at Adamoto's post from 2010 on (Homemade Mirrors). | |

| What stops them from loosening up from the wear of repeated swings in and out? | |

| Adamoto used rubber but I used like 4 wraps of electrical tape on the end. The barrel had to be pried open a bit then clamped back around the tape. This almost made it like rubber mounted! Takes a little bit to turn them and according to adamoto, they dont vibrate on the highway. We have 3 feet of snow so I havnt tried mine yet. Sure wish I could, I've done tons of mods this winter. | |

| Hmmm I really like this. Good alternative to these http://www.motostrano.com/Handguard-Mirrors-p/06400104.htm
How did you get the bolt heads flush like that....just drilled the hole out until they fit?

| I used a countersink to get them flush. bolts are tapered also. | |

| Those look good. Personally, I like these http://www.doubletakemirror.com/ Infinitely adjustable, remove in seconds, fold-in to keep them out of harm's way. They do cost more than your creative mod though. | |

| Well, after finally being able to ride a couple weeks, (snow went away FINALLY) Im not sure if I still like the mirrors. Seem to need adjusting every day. Might need more tape. Havent seen any single track yet to check on clearance. Will report when I do. | |

| How did these mirrors hold up for you?
I think they will break off the first time you tip over, IMO they are more likely to get damaged than the stock setup, they wil be the first thing to hit the ground in most every tip over, for offroading these would be a mojor down grade from stock.
Folding mirrors are the way to go as they can be moved out of the way for offroading and will still be in one piece at the end of a offroad ride.
I have the dirt cheap ken sheen folding mirrors that go into the stock mirror mounts, they were on my KLR for 5 years and then I put them on my WRR, they're still undamaged after alot of tip overs because they cant hit the ground when you do. I mount them so they fold forward on an slight angle towards the middle of the bike so they're not in the way at all, if you mount them so they fold straight towards the middle of the bars they are in your way and will hit you in the chest.
When I finaly break these I'll get the double take mirrors and mount them under the bars as this setup is even better.

| Hey, mcdoudlehopper, I just noticed this post. I unfortunately had to sell my WRX and I've missed it every day. Your mirrors look good. Just my 2 cents... I thought about electrical tape, but went with rubber instead because I figured eventually electrical tape dries out. Or in the summer it would get so hot it would turn to goo and the mirror would just turn so easily that you wouldn't be able to keep them straight while riding. | |

| Sorry its been a while. Yes the tape ended up doing exactly that. It gets gooey and turns. Thinking about the folding mirrors now but still use them even off road. Folding mirrors are best for crashes. | |

| Nice job! I'd have them destroyed in minutes off road but looks like it'd work out well on road. I find that bar end mirrors mounted inside the grips work great, but you're looking under your arms which takes a little getting used to. You can kinda make them out in this pic. | |

They do cost more than your creative mod though. I have those one my Beta and the HDB setup on the WRR. I like the HDB set up much better especially if I am riding down any pavement for any sort of distance. I have a hard time keeping the Doubletake Mirrors from rotating out of position when I am riding at speed on the road.
