got my pipe and fmf programer installed!!! got few question

so i just got my power core pipe and programer installed! love it so far! I have the normal air box mods plus i took the door off, just seems like i can get a little more out of it. the settings i started at so far are

3-4-1-8-6-4.5

also it has shot some flames! its cool but idk if its really that bad for it.....let me know what you think. Ive read through alot of other ppls settings but its just overwhelming because theres so many different setting out there...
ive heard mixed feeling about the 5th number on the fmf programer etc....

Don't be afraid to tweak numbers a little. You can move around one way or the other by .5 increments.

Play with it. See what you find.

Experiment.

Don't do anything drastic, like set them all to 8, or all to .5, but you'll probably find there's not one single magic setting for your mods that somebody else can tell you.

Best anyone can do is give you a base point to start from, and then it's up to you to tinker with it a bit until you find the best place to be.

Then post it here somewhere, and maybe help somebody else find a good place to start with their bike.

Good advice above..... i too will be doing the exact same thing hopefully in a couple of weeks, as just today i've finally now ordered my new FMF Programmer from the USA.


Also i've purchaced the mega bomb header with the same order - so should be a noticable & nice little power up when i get them both "bolted" up. I will be first just fitting the header pipe alone to run for a good few days or more just as a "test" to see what "seat of the pants" difference there may be with that alone. I will report back to the forum with genuine feedback on this, as i know there is still "open" debate in a thread on this.


Will then be fitting up and "fine tune fiddling" with the F/P - although much like the airbox mods, i have a sneaky suspicsion that the programmer may not be quite as "effective" on our "Euro spec" OZ bikes with the O2 sensor. ( I will be keeping my o2 sensor connected - so will really only have a best effect with the programmer at settings for acceleration & high to WOT, but all good as that's where it really counts / matters, and that's exactly where i want the extra "hit" in regards to this mod. Also for me the F/P at present is more so for a bit of fun to fiddle around with, and if it makes some noticable power gains for my bike, then great...but really i'm getting it for the main purpose of intended future 290cc Athena BB kit. So all good ).


Anyway sorry to take over on this thread - i will report back in the relevent thread/s in a few weeks after fitting & testing. I can't wait.

Yeah I feel it's running a little to rich now because I've shot some pretty bad ass flames on decel haha. I'm gonna go down .5 or 1 on a few settings and see if it's better. Also the yellow looks like orange. Fmf needs to do better with there colors on the LEDs

I ignore the leds colors and count how many modes I went through when changing settings.

Did you try fmfs reccomended settings?

Thats where I ended up after trying a bunch of other peoples settings.

Execpt for the 5th # I have it on 6 so I dont get cut outs.

I've never bothered to contact doback or fmf about this but I think the programmers have changed over the years... you no longer need to send them back for a reflash to work with big bore kits and the reccomended settings from fmf have changed. This makes running someones settings from a few years ago a bad idea.

so i played with the settings a little and getting used to the way to use this thing..i lowered all the numbers a little and it seems more powerful. only thing is when im in 1st or 2nd at like 1/4 throttle and a rolling speed and i rip it wide open it bogs then takes off...kinda makes wheelies hard haha...ill search the forum for maybe similar issues and see what i can do to fix it.

runs great! i might bump up the 3rd number to 1 because it scares me knowing im not adding any extra fuel than stock at WOT

Try changing 5th number from four to six or higher.

Based on some of the dyno runs I have seen on the WRR, the bike runs rich at WOT. That is why most of the time people are using 0.5 for the #3 setting.
