| Hey guys ordered my 2014 WR250R shes on her way. I ordered the Edge Two tail light kit with 12oclocklabs updated board and turn singles for the rear. Also ordered the Zeta MX Hand guards with built in turn signals.
Any other Mods you guys can think of that you really thought it made your bike better?
Also does anyone know where you can get just the mirrors that come on the highwaydirtbikes hand guards from? They don't sell them as parts only if you buy the whole set. Or any Ideas for making my own.
Thanks guys! | |

| I shortened the clutch lever because I only use one or two fingers to work the clutch. Once you've experienced clutching this way you'll never go back to standard reach clutch levers again. Wait until the bike is broken in well before deciding on performance mods. Set up you suspension (sag) immediately. | |

| You're the perfect size for this bike, tall and skinny. You won't need to lower it. The rest depends on how you plan to use it. Mine is 90/10, so I got AC10 knobbies, tireballs, bigger rear sprocket, heated vest, bigger tank, Corbin seat, skidplate, handguards. I left the engine stock because in my experience (33+ years) that keeps the bike the most reliable. From the factory I think it's probably already 90% perfect for 50/50 use. Maybe a tank and a seat being the first changes I would make. | |

| Here's a good read for you to dial in your suspension. It builds confidence to know your bike is optimized for your weight and height:

| Offroad: Better skid plate
On Road: 14 tooth front sprocket, then go up on the rear until you are happy with the ratio. That keeps the chain from eating up sliders so fast and makes chain adjustment less vital. Bar end mirrors... The stockers just showed me my own arms. Cheap chinese ones are fine. Pipe, air box door off, special no toil filter that eliminates backfire shield, and programmer.... though I would buy the pipe and programmer used. They are nice to have but are expensive for the small gains you get. Might try just airbox and programmer, all of the aftermarket pipes are very loud due to the motor always working hard. Not quite straight pipe harley loud, but not that far from it either.

| For the time being, you may want to leave the engine stock. At least wait until it is broke in, and maybe until the warranty is up. It would be a shame to have something bad happen to the engine and the dealer say "sorry, that is not covered by warranty because of the mods you made". This does happen...... I like the Flatland skid plate and one of the radiator guards for off road. A nice tail rack if you have need of one. After it is broke in, you may want to change the gearing for off road, also the tires, as the OEM are not that good. Congrats on the new bike. | |

| Nice bike!
Your bike is begging for YZ parts so it can breathe properly.
There is a good thread on putting YZ parts on a WR450 in the Yamaha section of supermotojunkie. I'll see if I can find it.

http://www.wrrdualsport.com/tech-guide/suspension/104-suspension-101 Link does not work. I'd like to learn more about this. I did not know it was needed, but if it helps then I'm all about it.

| Sorry about the link.
It's really helpful to have your suspension working for you, rather than against you. That's why it's adjustable....to set it up (stiffen) for your weight. It's pretty easy to set the rider sag so it won't bottom out when landing jumps or hitting bumps. YouTube is full of videos to give you visuals on what to do....a lot less typing that way. Good luck and enjoy your new, quality built ride.

| I left the engine and gearing totally stock and am quite happy with it. However, I added a Sargent seat, windscreen, and skid plate. The bike is great for cruising country roads, gravel, even the freeway if you need it. That's what I bought the bike for and I am more than happy. | |
