Fuel question?

Hi Gang, doing a long road trip and have my fuel capacity problems figured out but here is a question.....
What if the next little ''hick town'' I arrive at doesn't have a gas station with the required 91 octane our bikes use?
Should I just pack some octane boost along with me and dump that in if they only sell 87? is there any harm in using an additive over the real thing?

You'll be fine on the occasional 87.... Had to do that in the past and the bike ran fine.

I've had to put 87 octane in mine a few times as that's all the station had, it didn't hurt anything or run any different.

It would really only become an issue under severe loads (like climbing a big hill) and espcially if it was very hot out (90 degrees etc....).

ok, burt I did try 87 and it knocked like crazy when I try to get up to speed so I'm not comfortable running less than 91. Its desert where I'll be riding so very hot conditions. So back to my original question, will it harm anything running an octane boost additive? fuel pump/seals ect.?
