DynaBeads Tire Balancing System

I figured putting this here would be most appropriate, being tires/pressure is part of the routine maintenance on an ongoing basis. That being said, I was asked to do up something about this fantastic product that I was asked to try out in my bike.

I'm running what is called DynaBeads in my tubes, a revolutionary wheel balancing system that eliminates sticky and clamped weights on your rims, or spokes. Basically what DynaBeads are, are very small, high density ceramic beads that are inserted into the valve stem of the tire, dispersing them inside the wheel (or in my case, tube). Once in there, they continuously balance your tires as you ride along. The beads will distribute itself in weight and position, depending on the balance requirements of the individual tire. These things constantly reposition themselves in the tire as it wears during your ride, and what I've ended up with so far, is a ride that has no vibration, and smooth as silk. Yep, even with the knobbies, it's quite an incredible ride. They are supposed to stop cupping, which I did have with the 606 front about 1/2 way thru its wear. I guess I'll see how they do with the StoneEaters. Many of the sportbikes and cruisers in this area who have these things in their tires love them, so for me having a dirt bike, I was asked to test them out. So far, I love the ride I'm getting. I think I'm going to get these things put into my 4 wheeled vehicles too.

Dual Purpose / Off Road with Rim Locks
Front - 80 - 120 mm tire width						2 oz
Rear - 130 -230 mm width						3 oz
Rim Locks - add one ounce over what you normaly use for that size tire to accomodate the additional weight of the rim lock. Two rim locks opposite each other don't require any more Dyna Beads other than stated above, as they have a tendency to cancel each other out.

Very nice. I"m interested in the long term effect/affect(?) of the product. So keep us posted.

*what about bumps/jumps etc.... I'm assuming the beads are too small and few to affect anything?
**what about wear of the tube? I don't think you do, but I only replace the tube every other or third tire change.

Honestly, I have no idea what shops are charging. I got mine done for free because I'm testing stuff out for the shop. I've gone over jumps and stuff with these things and there doesn't seem to be any problems with it. I replace the tubes whenever I need to; this time I put two new tubes in with the new skins because I had patched both a couple of times, and I wanted a fresh set to make a fair comparison. I really don't like running patched tubes in the front, and change it out when I get home. I keep the patched one for a spare just in case.

I have heard good things about this stuff and not so good. i tried it and ended up with most of it on the floor. It is very difficult, at least for me, to put it in the tire. Honestly I did not notice any difference. I also do not notice any difference between a balanced and a tire i do not balance on any of my bikes even up to a speed of 149 mph. Does it really make a difference? wilburj

I notice on this set that balancing does take some of the 'chop' out; although I didn't really experience much bouncy bouncy with the 606s, I get none of that now. Putting the stuff in was fairly straight forward, we used a bottle with a small tip on the end and stuffed that into the valve. It certainly won't hurt the rubber, and being free I figured why not? I know my unbalanced 802s got some humpity bumpity over 130 mph, but the nice thing about this stuff is you can't throw a weight like the conventional balancing act.

They do work (but no better than regular static balancing)

Most tires are close enough to being "in balance" that balancing isn't necessary - but it never hurts.

They sometimes cause problems by getting stuck in the shrader valves when checking pressure.

They can be a pain to get in though the valve stem but it's doable (vibrating the stem while pouring them in helps).

There is a special valve with a filter somewhere to prevent this. I am using the dynabeads and one rim lock added front and back and the beads seem to be working. We did not have the filter valves when we installed but I think he ordered some. I will find out where and post back.

Need to order within the next couple of days. Do the filtered valves fit? (don't want to order if they don't work, lol)

Yep. I don't have the filtered valves, and so far nothing has been jammed open.

I tried to use Dynabeads with my tubliss system. Even 6oz wasn't enough to balance the wheels. I'm surprised they only recommend 2 oz with rim locks.

I'm interested....where can we purchase this product or is finding a dealer to do the install the only solution. I don't have any dealers close to me according to their website.

I didn't order from a dealer, just went to there website and ordered.

*I also ordered the filtered valve cores....they both failed. First one would not hold air as soon as i installed it. The second one went flat over night.

I never got mine from the site. I got it done when the boys at the bike shop put it in. They carry it.

been running them in my sportbikes for some time now. they work great. and it'snice not having ugly ass weights on your rim.

Whats your update on these?

Mine....I'm done with them (meaning I just blew my rear tube and won't be buying any more beads to replace). Nothing but problems in a Dual-Sport that you are changing tires and also psi. fairly often.

After reading up on Dynabeads (thanks SheWolf ) I thought I would give it a try. I recently replaced both my tires, I have Distanzia's now.
They were not balanced and at 65km (40 mph for you yankees) I had a distinct inbalance. Like I was driving on a washboard.

Putting the beads in wasn't a big deal, but I didn't have the applicator so I had to fabricate one. The front tire (1 oz) gobbled them up with no issues, the back tire (2 oz) took some more convincing. I had to tap the stem to make them disappear in the tube.

And I must say, these Dynabeads seem to work. The shaking is gone and it seems smoother at all speeds. I didn't take it for a long drive but I am a fan.

Changed the oil while I was at it so today was a productive day.

We've been using Dynabeads on our bikes for about 6 years now. Countless Vstroms, Tigers, GS's, DRZ, KLRs, WR... never an issue - except when you spill them and they bounce all over the garage floor :). We've also used the Ride-on tire sealant - expensive, works well -but messy as hell when doing a tire swap.
