Arkansas has GREAT water!

Hell.....I feel like an embassasment to the family. My granpa was making his "own" babies at my age. Of course my granma was 2 years younger than her oldest stepson. But they were farmers and had to raise their own help. Hired hands were too expensive. And ya weren't allowed to use a razor strap on them.

I'm also in a kind of hurry, because i'm doing a rallye in Africa in april (le "Raid de l'Amitié"), and i wait for this tank since several months. But now, i'm afraid that it won't be there !

So finger crossed, but after february it will be too late for me

How about setting up a website/account to take pre-order money with a promise of a deadline/due date.

If it was not delivered on time, everyone pre-ordered gets a big discount.

There is clearly money to be made, but the snail pace of this tank/process is sickening.

I'm willing to be the devil here. Have you seen any other business ran like this?

It's the like PizzaHut only selling breadsticks(3.0gal tank) and delaying the pie over and over.

Just get it done! (or at least have a SET SCHEDULE/TIMELINE)

That's a little crazy to compare the 3 gal tank to breadsticks. It increased capacity by 50% and gave us a plastic tank. It was probably a smarter marketing choice to sell the 3 gallon tank first. They prob sold and will sell more of these than the bulkier 4.5 gallon option. Alot of people have no real need for such a large capacity. Plus, with the issues that we had on the 3 gallon tanks for us early purchasers, If it was me I would prefer they took the time they needed to release a solid product. They're not going to rush it just so one or two people can go on their planned trip and possible run into untested issues. It looks like it will be a nice tank and looks 100% better than the Safari but if it wasn't for Chuck sharing progress info on this, no one would have any idea how close/or when this tank was being released.

Acerbis and IMS both offer a variety of 5+gal tanks for other bikes. So there is market for that for sure. You and many other don't have a need for a 4.5 gal tank is also a good argument that the release of both tanks will not interfere each other. We have all been waiting so long for the bigger tank, if it was a marketing strategy to get us by the 3.0 tank. It had failed.

As consumers, we should demand for good product, released in timely manner. Not teaser vague-ware with endless delays.

I'm sure that IMS will produce a quality product that satisfies their customers just as Safari has done. I'm not patient enough to wait for the IMS 4.5g, so I'm the proud 3rd owner of the Safari 3.5g. It still performs flawlessly and I can carry a 1-gal Rotopax for those really long days in the desert.

Can we stay on track here rather than pointless banter between someone who doesn't want to wait and someone who didn't?

There is clearly a market for a bigger tank for other dualsport bikes like the DRZ and it is no different with the WR.
There is also no doubt that manufacturers like Chuck are risking the wrath of the punters by engaging with them on forums about R&D and then not delivering. Luckily it has not got to that point and hopefully as we approach the guestimate-targetdate we will be given a more precise indication of delivery.

We must remember that IMS developped the 3.1g . They had to check if there was still a market for the 4.5g before rushing to develop it.

Now it looks like they're on the verge of delivering it.

I used quotes on 'rushed' to reply the previous post by john92 with sarcasm. Emphasizing that developing a quality product in a very timely manner is possible just as what Safari did.

We are on the same page on that. Making the tank is no rocket science, it's most delay due to priority.

I didn't issue any ultimatum either, simply offer to PRE PAY the money so that may speed up the process a bit. I know money is the only thing that talks.
