| FMF/AI are both plug and play, no computer downloads needed. PC3 &5 you need a laptop to download maps. The last one I have yet to hear any feedback because I don't know anyone who runs one of those. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

| Sigh. Again (for the how manith time?)... the PC can be as plug & play as anything. You done NEED a damn thing other than your retailer to load a map for you & anyone worth a shit will. Its the othe rone you need to mess with out of the box with your winking & blinking multi color lights. | |

| *sighs* Plug and play means take unit out of the box, plug into bike and go. NO downloading of anything by ANYONE. If you have to download a map into a unit FIRST, that isn't plug and play. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

| Actually, both the FMF Power Programmer (at least the latest one I bought this past winter) and both of the Power Commanders I've bought in the past have come out of the box already programmed for my bike.
When you buy a Power Commander, it comes shipped with a map already installed for a bike that's either stock, or one that's "mildly modified". The typical mods done to WR-250Rs and WR-250Xs around here come under that description. If you had a 290cc big bore kit, or some other crazy-ass mods requiring a different map, they you start with the downloading of different ones. You may also make your own custom map if you so desire.
The last FMF unit I bought actually came shipped pre-programmed for what the instructions call "Stock Settings w/Exhaust". The settings were: 3, 2, .5, 8, 4, 4 Of course, you can change the settings if you want.
So, to me, either is a plug-'n-play unit. You are paying more for a Power Commander because it simply has more features that make it a million times more adjustable. If you deem the much finer adjustability not necessary (like I did), the FMF unit is just fine and dandy. :)

THAT'S WHAT YOU DO!!!!!!!!!! IF " NO ONE" DID ANYTHING TO ANY OF THEM THEN NONE OF THEM WOULD BE PLUG & PLAY!!!!! IF "NO ONE" PROGRAMS A FMF IT WON'T DO A DAMN THING. NOT TO MENTION THEN IT ISN'T PLUG & PLAY BY YOUR DEFINITION---NONE ARE CASUE SOME TIME, SOME WHERE, SOME ONE HAS TO PROGRAM THE DAMN THING. GEEZ... HELLO, McFLY?

| Sometimes when sand gets into ones' eye, we have a case of cranky pants. Oh I will add that besides being plug n play The FMF/AI are the economical choice. Save a buck with these and you've got some leftover to spend on something else. Oh I also forgot to mention that with the FMF/AI, you can adjust on the fly if you need to tweak things here and there. With the competition you still have to download another map, so unless you carry a laptop around with you to do that, you are stuck with the map that was put into it at first. Or MAYBE....maybe you could download 4 or 5 maps! Then you can figure out what one to use. Simple, easy to install, economical, FMF/AI baby. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |
