Does anyone know if there is a way to remove scratches and re-polish plastic? I took a fall on my wr everything looked o.k. until I got home. The rear fender had a deep scratch on it. I tried plast-x but it destroyed the clear coat.

Start sanding with 220 or so (depending how deep the scratch is) and work your way up. You should be able to sand the scratch right out of it.

Anybody got ideas how to get clear coat back again??? My whale-tail is looking really dull from Wolfman Rollie-Bag rubbing on it. Furniture polish just makes it come up satin, & not shiny like side panels. I wondered if marine products, like gel-coat repair might work, although this is for fibreglass dunno

Ive read that a product called Novus Plastic Polish is supposd to work. There are 3 grades, with #1 being the final light polish. The stuff is available at Tap Plastics and maybe Home Depot. I've not tried it, but would like to find a pruduct that will do what your asking.

thumb Cool! Thanks Mr M1A - looks like this stuff is available in UK: http://www.plasticstockist.com/Novus-Plastic-Polish.aspx
I will get some of this in the next couple of weeks for experimentation.
Edit: I also found Xerapol Plastic Polish: http://www.intobikes.co.uk/products/001503/Bike_It_Xerapol_Plastic_Polish?pt=0123&rt=36&rg=12&sg=OR&st=pt&sf=latest&sd=DESC anyone got experience with it? dunno

i have a product at work called Plexus. i havent really tried it with panels, but for light swirly scratches on windscreens it is fantastic. got a regular with an old r100 and you couldn't see thru the screen, gave it 3 runs over and it was nearly new. its apartently a silicone sort of polish, you spray on, let it sit a couple mins and it soaks in and fills scratches, then you polish it off.

like gatorfan said ,,,wear those scratches like a badge of honor,,,,,I use a spray polish (made by kawasaki) to get the plastic clean but I don,t worry about scratches,,that's the beauty of owning a bike like ours,, you don[t have to spend alot of time polishing it which gives you more time to ride. last july I took my wrr to the white mountains in New Hampshire and there were a few couples on Harleys staying in the next cabin..each morning when I left for my days ride, these guys were out polishing their bikes and when I would get back in the early evening these guys were polishing their bikes,,it made me laugh out loud everytime,,,I'll never understand the harley mentalitY,,from what I can tell, these guys spend more time cleaning and talking about their bikes than they do riding them......just my 2cents

I was the same way with my sportbikes, but the WR to me is a bike made to ride hard, which is what I do with it, it's always dusty and muddy and I can wash it and it's the same way again after a good ride. But I do like a nice clean shiny bike, and don't mind doing it but riding down dusty roads you'll never keep the WR clean.
