Cuba - open the door

What better time to open the lines of trade and commerce than now?

It may be a drop in the bucket, but it certainly couldn't hurt our economy, and it might actually help it a bit.

We are already in bed with China, Russia, and most of the Middle East.

Why not Cuba?

This stubborn and childish refusal to do business with such a close neighbor is asinine.

Loaded up all the violent criminals on boats and sent them packing. To the USA.

Probably because our biggest export to them would be cash just like with China... that's all we need is a massive trade deficit with yet another country that undercuts the cost of our labor and business overhead.

Wonder what the net gain/net expense to the US is from that at this point in time? I'm sure Castro is still laughing his ass off! At the very least, the Cubans should have been made to take Carter in exchange.

As Arkmage pointed out... why not add just one more brick to the burden by adding Cuba to the list of countries we have a trade deficit with?

Curiously, while The Anointed One fell all over himself apologizing to the world and trying to be Ahmadinejad's bitch, he didn't rush to give Castro a hug and a kiss. Perhaps his calculus of felicity told him that would cost him a boatload of votes...
