My oil temp lite seems to come ON way too often. Im no expert rider but not a beginner either so I dont think i'm over revving, or riding in wrong gear etc. Any thoughts or advice?

You didn't say... 'check your oil level'. Did you do that?
Hold bike upright on level ground and check the sight glass.

I think you must be talking about the coolant temp light.

Check your coolant level.

Make sure the radiator fan is turning on once the engine is up to temp.
