Hello Everyone,

I was just given, yes given, a 2008 Wr250r with 74miles on it. The owner is an old rich guy who wanted me to help him with a few things and in return he gave me a bike. Well, it has been sitting in his garage for 2 YEARS! Drained the gas and replaced that, cleaned the mice nests out of the air box and fixed the wiring they chewed through, HOWEVER,

I can not pull of the Spark plug cap. i twisted and pull both ways and it wont budge, i can't really get this thing running without getting that plug cleaned. I am super lucky for a great gift and i look forward to loving this bike for years but first i need to get it running. Please help!!

give it a nice strong blow with compressed air from the hole in the side of the cylinder. it sometimes just pops off by itself, but usually it requires you to simultaneously pull the plug. so combination of blowing and pulling at the same time should get the job done in no time thumb

Wrap a rag around the end of a ratchet and wedge it under the end of the connector. Should just pop right off, thats what I do...

Yeah, i did not know about the hole to try and blow it off. hmmmm

And i wanted to ask if anyone else had tried prying it off with any luck before i did and broke the cap connector off ha.

Thanks and i am sure i will be asking plenty of silly questions, i can rebuild the engine in my 73 CB Honda but get all worried when i look at all the new plastic stuff.

Hi and welcome.

Congrat's. Pretty cool gift , you lucky you ! thumb

If it has been sitting for two years and only has 74 miles on it, I would't worry about rebuilding too much.
Just change the fluids, replace the battery and see if it starts.

oh: wink

So, How i said this bike was pretty much given to me... it has made up for that. Because it has sat for so long i had some work to do. I was able to clean out the injectors, replace plug, oil change, fluids, re-wire all the chewed up wires from the mice who lived in it the last 3 years and get a new air filter in there just to find out that the old gas had clogged up the fuel pump... luckily i was able to pull it apart (they are not really made to be worked on, just replaced) and beat it out with a little help from WD-40. Fuel pump motor Finally kicked back on.

I love this bike. I have owned it a couple of days. put some hours and few bucks into it but it all payed off. i know that bike pretty well now and Finally got to go on my first ride on my new bike and boy do i love it! can't wait to start making mounts for it (i am a welder/fabricator) for gun and bow cases.

You will be seeing me more and more on here with pics and stories. Glad to be a part of the WRR/X world
