Horn isn't working Empty
PostSubject: Horn isn't working   Horn isn't working EmptyTue Apr 08, 2014 10:26 am

Hey guys, my inspection is up on my bike and before I take it in I did a once over. I noticed my horn works sometimes, sometimes it is weak, and sometimes it won't sound at all?

What gives? What should i check?

first thing I'd check would be the connections down at the horn. spray plenty of wd40, give it a good clean, make sure connectors are on properly, wires intact etc.

also give the horn switch on the handlebar a good cleaning with wd40 and make sure no soil and dirt is in there

Strongly agree on checking all the connections (especially the thumb switch contacts hint hint)  thumb  .

Strongly disagree with using WD40 to clean electrical connections.  It will only displace any immediate moisture, and in short order leave a sticky gummy residue which can/will cause further issues down the line.  Contact cleaner is the tool to use here imnsho.
