| My question is what is the difference other than the years on the bike. I have a guy offering $6350 for a 2013 WR250R and another guy offering $6500 for a 2015 WR250R. Both are new. I understand the specs may be the same, but I would like input on the price and the models. | |

| Same bike......the 2013 is two years old, even new. IMO the price is high. Make him an offer. If he won't come down and you gotta have one get the '15.

| Yeah at least the dealer for the 2015 I haven't haggled him too much. The 2013 seller wouldn't budge. | |

| Yeah I figured I can get them to lower the price possibly if I offered cash; we will see what happens. =). On another note, how much did you guys pay for your bikes if bought new or used? I understand prices differ regionally | |

| If you can pay cash (or cashier's check) that can loosen a seller up quite a bit. Even though the '13 is new, the age will affect resale when you decide to move on. If it's at a dealership, he's losing money every day it sits on the floor. A quick look on cycle trader shows quite a few new '13 WRs for around $5500-$6000, but some of the prices are all over the place. I'd probably offer your seller $5500 and see what he does.
When I bought my '12, the owner wanted $6500 for it with 348 miles on it. It was still brand new. I offered him $4800 cash. We eventually settled on $5000 even, which is about what I had wanted to pay.
If your '13 seller ain't budging, I'd agree with the other guys. For $250 difference go for the '15.

| Your dealer may not be including "dealer prep fees" upfront, and some others they don't mention until you're ready to close the deal. You gotta find out about those....don't pay them. | |

| Yeah I offered 6k cash to the 2013 Wr250R dealer and he wouldn't budge. The prices I listed were OTD prices no additional costs. Luckily I got away from that terrible idea paying way too much for the 2013. I'm sure the guy will call me when he realizes he's not going to be seeing me today. | |

| Man I am envious of those prices. The best OTD price I've found in Northern CA is $7,400! I'm holding out for a better deal. | |

| Dude that sucks.... Riding in the mountains in Redding would be nice this time of year. Maybe order from out of state. I saw prices in Washington for 5,800 | |

| Adding to the good info already given, I think being patient is your best bargaining tool. Obviously you want to be nice about the transaction - no one likes a cash offer from a jerk (not that you are one, just stating obvious) - but it seems you are not in a big hurry to just give your money away. Sellers who won't budge often do when they realize there's a bike or two doing nothing but collecting dust and losing value. | |

| You might also shop the entire US for new dealership bikes, if you're comfortable with arranging shipping. It ain't that hard; I bought my 2008 new in Ohio for much, much less than I could get it in Montana. I would have to look it up, but it seems to me after shopping some of the internet shipping options, my bike came on a deadheading truck returning to MT for about $250, and I got the bike new for something around $4200 OTD. Ohio is a long way from MT, but shopping and shipping worked really well for me.
Funny thing was the local dealership who wouldn't come down on the price had to put the bike together out of the shipping crate for me - apparently Yammy in Ohio don't let rank amateurs uncrate the bike. So it was actually delivered to the dealership, they assembled it in approved Yamaha fashion, and I picked it up and rode it the 10 miles home. I think they did a chargeback to the Ohio dealership or something, so they got paid for their time. They could have sold me a new bike instead...

| Well I got a dealer to go with 6400 OTD for a 2014; Thinking of closing the deal. This is the closest place that can pull of a deal and has the bike in stock. | |

Looks like you have done well. Tax, title, etc. on top of that, I assume?
