I would assume this is some idiot who quit making the payments, as they don't have the title. It be a great parts bike for someone.

| They would have to be pretty brave/stupid to list a stolen road legal bike, but I guess any things possible. | |

| It's got to be stolen, as a former LEO, I've seen it before. | |

| My first guess is stolen.
Does that bike look like it's ruined to you and not worth taking care of this supposed "carburetor problem" and make right again?
My question is: What does this guy want to do with the money?

| My bet is that it is not stolen, but the whole ad is a scam. Just a photo they found online somewhere.
For some reason, scammers like to ask $1800...

| I'm from dayton, and know all the WRR rides in the area for the most part. Not a bike I've ever seen. Especially with a north dakota area code... | |

| Scam does seems a good possibility, too. Only 47 miles...
So, how would such a scam work?

So, how would such a scam work? Well the last on I heard of in GA went something like this. Retired couple sees an ad for a classic 1960's Mustang. They call the guy and drive about an hour or so from home to look at the car.. except there is no car. The get two bullets deposited in them and their late model SUV is stolen. Cops later find the guy who wrote the ad and find the supposed murder weapon in a trailer that he rents. Case is going to court. I guess several of the local GA police stations are letting it be known that they are available to be meeting place to conduct your Craigslist transactions and are will to check the items to ensure that the items are not stolen prior to completing the transaction.

So, how would such a scam work? Another (less fatal) option: Seller is "out of town" for business or something, and you can send him payment or deposit through Western Union or fake eBay link that he sends to you. Could also be phishing, you contact seller to get more info and they get your e-mail address and try to get info from you. http://cheap-cars.stackpoint.com/cars-craigslist-scam-alert.htm

| I also saw this exact add a few days ago while helping my friend look for another bike, i'm just north of Dayton and I've never seen a WR in two years let alone the 6,000 miles I've put on the bike so far since September, I just laughed when I saw it and flagged the listing. | |

| Definitely stolen or money scam. Anyone that knows about the WR knows the price is way too cheap, has EFI not a carb, the bike almost never fails at only 47 miles. Also anybody with some common sense would do a reverse lookup on the number and discover it is a ND area code as Oldschool stated. Sad part is that there is always someone out there who will fall for it and become another victim and lose their money and/or life! I'd never do a Craigslist deal without a friend or two tagging along and everyone would have a CCW permit. Long gone are the days when you could leave your cars and house unlocked because most people were honest. There is very little respect and consideration for others nowadays. | |
