| Hi,
Has anybody ever tried to use an oil drain container to carry extra fuel? I'm looking at one now that holds 5 qts. It's 15"x11"x4". Costs $20. It's here: http://www.amazon.com/Matrix-Concepts-M28-Drain-Container/dp/B004WHS6OE%3Fpsc%3D1%26SubscriptionId%3DAKIAILSHYYTFIVPWUY6Q%26tag%3Dduckduckgo-ffab-20%26linkCode%3Dxm2%26camp%3D2025%26creative%3D165953%26creativeASIN%3DB004WHS6OE#productDetailsd.
There are plenty of other ones out there. Some large enough for 15 qts.

| That jug might be tight enough for oil but I have my doubts it will stay sealed with gasoline sloshing inside, specifically the "plug" on the oil catching side. | |

| I was thinking that a person could seal the smaller oil drain opening on the side of the container permanently. Maybe the larger opening wouldn't leak either if it's designed to hold 0W20 oil. | |

for the extra 10 bucks I'd go for a product specifically made for gasoline. gas will expand when its temperature goes up. agitation also creates pressure. fuel-specific containers are engineered to withstand those forces. I use a Rotopax 1.75 gallon container when the need arises. I also have two one quart MSR bottles when a little is all I need. both containers are unvented AND designed to carry gasoline. my $0.02

I dont even notice the roto on the back but I'm not doping any aerial acrobatics either, YMMV.

| The right Viton O ring might seal the drain side plug & you have a device that functions as designed AND doubles as an occasional fuel container. If it's sole function is for fuel go for the rotopax or something similar.... My $.02

There are plenty of other ones out there. Some large enough for 15 qts. If you go that route, buy one in person. Compare the wall thickness, threaded neck engineering, and cap against the higher priced alternatives. The old adage "You get what you pay for" is very applicable here. From my experience those oil catchers have caps that will crack after lengthy exposure to UV rays, and the vessel walls aren't much thicker than a milk jug, with walls maybe half as thick as your hardware store lawn variety fuel cans, and far less sturdy (and MUCH MUCH thinner) than a Rotopax.
