| I saw a WRR a long time ago that had the old 80s Yamaha broken stripes .... I would love to find something like that. Who sells that stuff? | |

| Just saw this last week. Now THIS is retro. Make the plastic yellow, and it would be the cheese.

Dirt Freak in Japan made it. Here's another pic

Nice, thanks, those are pretty cool. - motokid wrote:

That video was cool ... that is sort of the vibe I'm after. I'm actually pretty good at painting but never painted plastic ... I guess acrylic enamel would stick ok. Thanks for the idea. I'd have to find a pair of Yamaha stickers somewhere. The only bummer is it would be hard to do a complete color change ... I'm pretty much stuck to blue unless I want to spend a lot of time and money.....

| Yellow plastics: Seriously, very easy to paint your plastic. And cheap. I did white stripes over the blue and it is holding up well. I was looking at those retro graphics from soloracer, and decided to do my own using 3M retro-reflective vinyl: | |

| What are you people missing here. My bike when I bought it: My bike later: My bike later still: My avatar is my bike. All the same wr250x blue plastics with different paint jobs. I even painted my seat. The "black" seat you see in the pictures is the stock Yamaha blue & black seat that's been painted. _________________ 2008 WR250X Gearing: 13t - 48t Power Commander 5 / PC-V Airbox Door Removed - Flapper glued - AIS removed FmF Q4 Bridgestone Battlax BT-003rs

| Awesome! You guys are very creative!! I'm going to do it. I wonder if the paint will stick to virgin plastic without any scuffing it up? I mean, maybe take tar-wax remover and spray it with enamel? The reason I ask is if I do a stripe, I don't want the blue to be dull at the border of the stripe. Maybe I can mask it first and carefully steel wool it a little bit. Oh yeah, the blue seat on my 08 limits things a bit | |

Oh yeah, the blue seat on my 08 limits things a bit I didn't scuff my plastic first, but I did clean it really well and wipe it down with alcohol before spraying. The key is to follow the directions on the paint can, several light coats. The plastic paint has something in it that reacts with the plastic and almost etches it. I used blue painter's tape and newspaper to mask the other areas. The stripe on the front fender takes a beating from bugs and stones, but has held up really well. And if it does start to get bad, I can always spray it again.
