I've removed the AIS junk from my 2012. There were no ill-effects that I could tell.

My advice (fwiw) is to make sure there are no air leaks into the airbox once the tubing etc has been removed.

You'll need a blanking plate near the exhaust port to cover the hole left by that steel air-pipe when you've unbolted it.

You won't get a CEL for the AIS removal...it is very easy and straightforward. You WILL get a CEL if you remove the unplug/remove the EXUP system without an EXUP eliminator plug from say Graves, etc.

thank you. as far as the block off plate for the AIS I was just going to leave the original metal tube that comes off the engine cut it down to 1 inch long and cap it. then cap the intake box hole as well. the previous owner has installed a FMF muffler and Power bomb header with PC5. he has removed the Exup but has left the module plugged in. basically he removed only the part that connects to the exhaust pipe. I read a post on here that I can get 2 7.5 Ohm resistors plug them in and seal them. and I will not get a cell light. He has also installed a K&N air filter, removed the intake flapper and opened the to of the air box.
One issue I am having is my LCD screen, there is no Back light. its not light up. at night I cannot see my speed. someone said that there is no bulb to replace, it is build in. I am going to open it this weekend and have a look. all the other functions works as far as number being displayed and the Diagnostics as well. it is very frustrating not knowing my speed at night time. and not having a Tach makes it worse.

Your plan for the AIS would work just fine! You only need the exup eliminator if your remove the EXUP servo. You can disconnect the servo cables from the exhaust and leave the servo plugged in and you are fine. I personally removed the whole thing and bought an eliminator plug. No issues. As far as your dash light I have no idea, hehe...it may involve buying a new dash entirely.......

y, as far as the dash, I am going to to take it to my dad. he is Electrical Engineer. he said he can open it up and see whats going on. if the screen is burned out, I can get a replacement screen. not form Yamaha but from the manufacture of the screen. but I am not sure it is the screen. because it is a LCD screen and everything else works on it. like speed, clocks etc, just no green back light. if the screen is damaged then nothing would work it be all dark, so its got to be something in side the case.
