Ok..stock the R² comes with a 13/43. If you want to keep the front a 13 and go bigger on the rear, you'll have to go to a bigger chain. If you have the rear a 43, and go to a 12 up front, you won't have to change the chain (you can use the 520/108) I'm running a 12/43, full D606's and I can use all 6 gears. I found the 13/43 was a bit long legged for doing bush runs...so really, it's all a matter of cost. Front sprocket's way cheaper than getting a bigger rear AND a chain. What's nice about the 12/43 606 combo is that the reduction in gearing and height of the tire keeps your speedo pretty close to stock.
