What did I do to my WR today? I found some open country road and flogged it! Found the rev limiter for the first time. Holy shit does this little motor scream. On a road with turns and hills 70 MPH was easy. I usually ride it like a grandpa (full disclosure- I AM a grandpa). When I bought this thing I had NO IDEA that 250 cc would be this much fun. So far I have absolutely no reason for any buyer remorse. A tach would have been nice, though.

Yeah, you need those nice blue Yamaha ones for sure. That's a decent trailer though. Those things aren't cheap!
I'll be hauling the Harley too. I found a motivated seller, sold my open trailer. I was out a thousand buck in the end.

That's a big ass trailer for such a little bike.
I prefer to carry mine like this.
I have one of those bumper haulers also. But my truck sits too high. And I need to be able to carry the Harley also.

It was a pretty day so I just road the crap out of it, washed it and got it ready to head back to Memphis Tenn in the morning. Here is a clip of me riding and testing the new mods from Friday.

Installed my new custom seat. Looking forward to a "long" ride. This seat is an inch thicker and 3 inches wider than stock. It also fills in the gaps between the seat and my IMS 3.1 tank. Here are before and after pictures.

Rear is 150/60R17, which is the narrowest size a Pilot Power comes in to my knowledge. Stock is 140/70ZR17. Fitment is fine.
Front is 110/70ZR17, same as stock.
When all said and done, the front end of the bike felt a bit higher, so I raised the fork tubes a couple millimeters to drop the front down. Feels excellent.

I notice when I got in Saturday that the new exhaust had melted the right rear sygnal. I replaced them with some billet units I had bought for the Harley. Tiny, Red, dual circuits.

Changed my sprockets and chain, Renthal 14/48 and DID X-ring chain. Hope this setup will be a bit more versatile for different uses than my previous 13/50 gearing

I got Megabombed. :)
It's a rainy day here today, so I plan on mounting it tomorrow. I also plan on back-to-back rides both with and without it so I can see for myself exactly what it offers (I already have the Q4 muffler).

Today, I rode it! :)
What does the addition of the FMF Megebomb header do for my WR-250X? It gave the bike a bit stronger low-to-mid-range power. It's definitely noticable, as I rode the bike back-to-back with the stock head pipe and then the Megabomb within 30 minutes. Top end power seems unchanged as far as I can tell.
The bike pulls the next taller gear a bit easier, gets up to speed a bit quicker, and pulls itself into the meat of the powerband a bit better. So, yes, you are getting something for the money. As an added bonus, the tone of the exhaust got a little bit deeper and burlier. :)

YZEtc: That sounds like a good call performance-wise.
What do you know about the FMF MB header fitment to the GYTR slip-on ? Are they compatible ?
What did it run ya and where did you get it ?
Otherwise what I did to the WR this week ? .... was sell the 03 WR450 (at a great discount) to a really good friend who said I have rights to it when I visit Lake Havasu AZ ! Pay it forward !

As far as fitting to a GYT-R muffler, I can't say for sure because I haven't tried it or seen it, but I assume it's likely it would work.
I had my Q4 muffler mated to the stock header, and now the Megabomb header is taking it's place without the muffler having to be moved from it's original position. As long as the GYT-R muffler is designed to slip over the stock header and the gasket, then it will be the correct diameter for the Megabomb which does not use the gasket, just metal-to-metal with some silicone sealant applied to the joint.
I bought it at the Honda/Yamaha/Suzuki shop I work for here in CT., a place called Motorsports Nation. Phone: 860-564-4223 If I recall, it was $208 plus tax. Quite a deal. :)

Took off my front suspension, broke a seal and the bike is leaking oil on the brake rotors side Going to change the seal and change the oil on both forks. Currently on 10,000 km / 6,200miles, a good time to change the suspension oil anyways? Or when do people normally change their fork oils?

Myself: I haven't changed any of my fork oil in any of my (dozens of offroad) bikes unless I blew the seals.
My 05 CRFx, five years later, has the original fork oil in it as does the list of bikes in the stable.
The mantra of course is: If it's working, don't fix it. Could it be better ? Perhaps... Perhaps marginally different - Maybe better.
Would I recognize a more-than marginal difference ? I'm guessing not. That's me.
Probably both sides of the spectrum represented here.
...but on the other hand, do I want the MB header ? Yea... Using the same logic - Why ? Ya got me there.
Why ? Because.
