Tool Tube
I'm not the first to go here, but every install is a little different. This one is easy and illustrated.
As much as I appreciate the compactness and flimsy mounting of the stock tool kit, it’s immediately overdue for replacement, not to mention replacing half the tools.
The Agri-tool tube is a common motorcycle storage accessory, and for good reason. They’re strong, lightweight, water tight, reasonably sized, and inexpensive. I’ve heard that you can buy them from your local farm store for $6. Urban myth? I don’t know, don’t have a farm store in my city. By the time I get it shipped, find a cool, zippered pouch that fits perfectly, and some associated mounting and locking hardware, I’m about in for what I could buy online as a kit. So here’s a plug for thetooltube.com. It was $46 delivered, and the service was impeccable, hence the plug. I dig these things, will probably buy more just to figure out how to implement them.
Mounting the standard size tube to the WRR is a pretty simple affair.
The gory details
Note - the passenger peg and bracket are removed. I removed the right-side peg as well since just one won't do. I left the mounting bracket though as it seems to offer a little protection.
A little plastic trimming on the tube flange.
A whack or two with the hammer on the upper strap hook makes room for cap removal.
Another tool tube done!
