That looks awesome! Did you fabricate a custom bracket to mount to the stock locations? Any close up pictures of how it's mounted to the bike?

Might as well post some pics of mine which is also pretty simple to make and uses stock mounting points too.
It's longer than most because I actually made it to hold my tent poles and a 4 piece fishing rod.

Basically some PVC pipe with two end caps. The bottom end is sealed on with silicon and a rivet.
The top end has a nylon strap attached to a rivet. The strap is used to hold the cap on.

The bottom mounting bracket below is 2mm aluminium with a slight bend (it uses pillion peg bolt holes)
A hose clamp holds the tube to the bracket. Heat shrink is used over bracket and clamp.

The top bracket is also 2mm aluminium which is bolted to where the helmet lock was. It's about 3 inches wide and bends around the bottom of the tube (halfway).
I've used a hose clamp to secure the top of the tube to the bracket. More heat shrink is used there too.

Another angle of the top bracket. The hose clamp goes through a hole in the bracket.

This is what the lid securing strap looks like (all cut off an old backpack). It can be loosened to pull lid off which then dangles.
Zippie ties secure the buckle to the top hose clamp, and another zippie tie secures the loose bit of strap.
