| I'm with 0007. If you lost a bearing it would be bad all the time and fail pretty fast. Has it become more frequent since you noticed it? Pulling the motor apart would be the last thing I would do. It almost sounds like a trapped air bubble that is bouncing around in the coolant or oil. When you changed the oil did you open the weep bolt? I never do, but those little japanese engineers probably put it there for a reason. Next start up crack it open until you get flow. Keep us updated, I like these kinds of problems (provide they aren't mine ) | |

| ya well this shit is going to blow your mind.
left work yesterday and after my ride home i come to the traffic light and stop, motor making the same noise (as expected) after it warms up at idle. I ride up to the next light and when coming to a stop in third gear i didnt down shift or use clutch. Just came to stop using brakes and let the bike chug down in gear until it almost stalls then i snapped in the clutch lever. Noise is gone...
I take a two extra laps around my neighborhood and get home, let bike idle....no noise
Hmmmmm, I come to work today and its usually making that noise by the time i pull into work...today, nothing, no more noise
WTF!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope it stays this way.........
BTW, my motor hookup didnt go through yesterday, guy had some issues he said....

| It sounds like a pumping noise on the video clip, but maybe it is something loose in the clutch pack singing? Did clutching ever make the sound go away before? | |

| Well 30 years in the industry and a decade of service and warranty toughr me that mechanical problems NEVER get better EVER so, you do not have a mechanical problem, I would look at disassembling your water pump etc for inspection | |

| Just about every bike has plastic gears, some have had chains in the past but that makes problems Oil pumps have a consistent load with no weird spikes, they are silent and they don't wear It's perfect Have you ever heard of an oil pump gear failure? | |

| When I first saw them it kind of took me back, but after I thought about it for a minute it was obvious that Yamaha had made them of that material for a good engineering reason and not to save money. Thanks for the explanation | |
