| can anyone tell me how to set up 2 light killswitchs... one for the headlight and one for the brake and tail like for my x? i have a stock headlight and a edge tail light and i need to be able to cut one or the other or both on the fly. i was thinking about cutting into the ground for a switch so it will cut both tail and brake like but i dont know it that will be safe? so if anyone has done this or can think of a way to set me up....i would be very thankful | |

| You'd have to wire the switch to the headlight wires and not where they integrate into the harness if I'm not mistaken. I was race-prepping my x and tried pulling the fuse for the headlight but it kills the gauge cluster as well.
Try these universal switches - http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/productDetail.do;jsessionid=6AD3DA7E3DF0A0F016E2FAB68036D4BB?webCatId=20&webTypeId=171&navTitle=Electrical&navType=type&prodFamilyId=25858&stockId=212389&ref=gmc

| hmm... i think the headlight will be easy ill just cut into the hot wire near the headlight and fuse and switch... but the taillight might be a little more work to have 1 switch cut both taillight and brake light??? any ideas? | |

Yeah, the headlight can just be spliced at the wires near the bulb plug. I'm not sure about the taillight as I've swapped mine out for an R6 tail. Shouldn't be too hard though - find the plugs under the left side rear panel and just splice a switch into them... | |

| I added a switch to kill the low beam on the headlight and mounted the switch on the side of the headlight cover where it's easy to get to while riding. I just spliced the wire at the headlight plug and I also used a quick connect so it's easy to remove the headlight. If I need the headlight I can either flip on the high beam with the factory light switch or I can reach down and flip the low beam back on. I can add pics tomorrow if you want but I'm at work and have been without power or internet at my house since Irene stopped by. You're on your own with the tail light. | |

| you can splice right at the 15A fuse, headlight fuse, which kills both hi and lo and turn signals.. splice on the non-hot side of the fuse, red wire w/ blue stripe..thats one. the other one is tricky..the 10A fuse, signal system, controls tail light and brake, license and position but also cluster signals AND your start system, you'll have to switch it back to start the bike; if you switch this, add that switch in any troubleshooting you do.. splice your switch on the brown wire that comes from the fuse, careful, there's more than one brown wire under the fuse box... | |

| Sorry for the delay in replying, this is what I found when I traced all of the cables on both switches. WR250 switch. Black = Ground/negative. Pink = Horn live. Blue = live feed for lights Brown -Blue = indicator common feed Brown = left indicator Dark green= righ indicator Light green = dip beam Yellow = high beam FJ1200 Switch Black = Ground Pink= Horn Live Red- Yellow = live feed for lights Brown-White = indicator common feed Brown = left indicator Dark Green = right indicator Green = Dip beam Yellow = High beam Blue = side lights The blue side light cable required me to run a cable with the head light loom to the side light, I then used the side light negative cable and just tight back the original side light feed and used the new supply. this dose not operate the raer tail light, you will have to run a cable to the rear light and number plate light seperate if you want to be in control of them too. Not a big job. Hope some of this makes sense | |

| Old thread but wouldn't an elegant solution be a fuse cut off switch.
