| I'm curious to know what some people are using as their support vehicles for Dual Sport events a long distance from home, be they RV, truck or car and trailer. I'll start things off with mine. When I have a dedicated place to stay (ie: a friend's house, prepaid hotel, ect...) I use my trusty 1995 Ford Ranger XLT 4x2 to get my "Torch" (1995 XT 350) anywhere over 150km away. When "camping" is called for I travel in something a bit more "luxurious", my 1990 Dodge Ram 3500 Van Anything under 150 or so km away I just ride there and then ride home after wards. | |

| Nice bed extender Chris. Sam: The Hilux seems to be very popular over there, almost every picture I've seen of Australia's small towns and cities has at least one in them. I'm taking the van into a tranny shop this morning... Darn thing's rear end is letting go. *sigh* It's just money right? | |

| My ride when I'm not out chasing fires. I also have the trailer but it's been taken away to a safe place until the threat of fire is gone. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

| It's rare that we haul a bike, but it does happen occasionally. Here's ours. It's a 1963 Mercedes Benz Unimog 404s. It's slow, but if it can't get there, then you'll likely need tracks, or a floatation device. It comes in many guises. Sometimes it's a bike hauler. Sometimes it carries landscaping supplies (since we can't seem to stop landscaping and renovating the @#$%#$ yard and house). Most often it carries our camper and then uses the trailer when required to rescue a bike. Our Unimog gets on well with others and usually sports the home built pop-top camper shown here with a few others on a trail ride at http://www.northwestmogfest.com/ Being the 404 model, ours is considered a 'small' unimog. Here it is next to a 'large' U2450 model. If you can imagine it painted green, then you may recognize it as 'Dino Hunter' from the movie 'Jurasic Park'. This blue Unimog was in the movie and is owned by a dealer in Oregon. More info on the Unimog can be found at http://www.volkswagenhaven.net | |

| my friends and i call it the hannah montana fun van... or HMFV for short. cost $500. it's a 200,000 mile '92 12-passenger G30 with the 3 rows of seats ripped out. we welded chocks to the floor and can haul 2 track bikes plus camping gear and support equipment for an entire weekend in (reasonable) comfort. | |
