DIRT BIKE MAGAZINE did a test on the crf250l in December and in Feb did ahop up on it. They tend to favor Honda in that magazine. Does anyone know if they have done the same for the wrr?

That was a good read. About what I expected. With EFI in the CRF250L the game is on.

They did a hop up and test of the WRR back in 08 or 09.
They only test new bikes, the WRR hasnt changed since coming out in 08, they have no reason to test it again.
They favor the crf250l in that mag because theres a 2 page ad for it in the mag lol.

I dont mean they say its better than the WRR, just that they will test it and ride it because theres an ad for it in the mag.

All those mags work that way. They are basically sophisticated advertisements.

Well DIRT BIKE goes on about how expensive the wrr is but drops $2000 + onthe Honda like it was nothing and still have a bike that is heavier,less power, inferior suspension and handling. But I guess thats ok.... Cause Honda supports your mag. Not sure if ill buy another mag. IMO DIRT BIKE a Honda nc700 is not a dirt bike.

Yeah, I got a kick out of the NC-700X on the cover with the line reading, Announcing: Adventure Bike Magazine, or words to that effect.
If the NC-700X is meant for off-road use, then I'm Santa Claus.
It's a street bike with high fenders.

In fact, I'm going to try searching the Internet and try to find his comment on it, if any.

All you need to do is read these magazines long enough to see the big f-ups from them that seem to me are patting the manufacturers on the back, such as electing the Cannondale motocross bike from around the year 2000 as Bike of the Year (can't remember what magazine did that), only to have it be the biggest flop and quirky P.O.S. in some time.
They crowned the bike king before it even hit the showrooms, too.

There will always be people who feel they're getting a better deal by purchasing a 12 pack of Coors Light for $8.00 then they would if they bought a 4 pack of Samuel Smith's for $10.00

If getting the cheapest new motorcycle possible is your quest, the answer is simple and easy.

If getting the best motorcycle possible is your quest things get a little less simple, but it mainly comes down to the buyer knowing what they really want.


The Yamaha is far and away a "better" bike in EVERY category except price and seat height. Maybe gas mileage too.

The only thing "similar" between these two bikes is displacement and number of wheels/tires.

After that the comparison between the two starts to separate quickly.

It's certainly NOT like comparing the cbr600rr and YZF-R6.

I'd put my money on a used Yamaha wr250 over a brand spanky new Honda crf250l any day of the week.
