| There are a couple threads here already about it. I wouldn't call it a WRR killer, did you read the specs? | |

| Gonna' have to give it a while before the new and excited owners start living with it. THEN perhaps some of them will start telling it like it truly is instead of telling through the exuberance right after taking delivery.
We'll see.
Still think I made the right choice. (250R)

| As far as giving it a while, they came out a year ago in some non-US markets.
The search feature here is a bit weak. I tried searching for it a while back and didn't find that thread either. Turns out using the word Honda does not match a subject with the word Hondas in it. I was just passing the link along as I figured you might have missed it too.

| Hard for me to relate to European models only: I think their specs are different? Anyway, I was in reference to the new Honda recently being released here in the good ol' US of A.

| I'm sure it's a well-made, reliable, sufficiently equipped (read: suspended) scoot and for the (>$2K less MSRP) money Honda willl move their (expected) share of units.
Unfortunately it's plagued with the same issues WRR/X owners face, and some worse including another 25 lbs of mass ( almost guaranteed to be a higher CG), with probably somewhat less HP.
Some will see the 2" lower seat height as a friendly advantage for those that like foot-to-ground contact.
First off, it only comes in DS trim. No SuMo options. Honda may lose one-half target buyers right there.
The WR, with almost 2" more ground clearance and an inch (plus) suspension would make it the street legal, dirt competent 250cc weapon of choice.
Now, if you could drop a CRF450x power plant into it you may find some interest (as you would find if one could drop a WR450x into a WRR/X).
So until that day, a WRR/X killer ? Only in price my friend...
BTW... One could make the same argument about the WRR/X price versus going to a KTM / GasGas / Aprillia Etc.
Sans all other factors, if your price threshhold is that elastic then why buy a WR ?

| What bothers me is that it's not made in Japan even though it is a Japanese brand. is pretty much a seal of approval for me. | |

You do know that Yamaha does not offer a SuMo either. Right? _________________ 2008 WR250X Gearing: 13t - 48t Power Commander 5 / PC-V Airbox Door Removed - Flapper glued - AIS removed FmF Q4 Bridgestone Battlax BT-003rs

| Oh... That's right. They dropped it for the '13 production year. ~ stet comment ~
I forgot the CRL was made in China. Good Gawd... Japan outsourcing to China. What's next ?
...and why does Yamaha still produce an XT ? ...and that scoot is a grand ($1K) more than the Honda !
I realize that N. America is not the moto-centric market of the world but still...

| I'd prefer something more powerful then 250's. May be 350? KTM Freeride? | |

| I don't really think the CRF250L is meant to compete with the higher end WR-R. Most seem to compare it to the KLX. That being said, there's a huge thread over at ADV on the CRF and actual owners are very pleased.
I still haven't settled on a bike yet, but I will admit, the CRF is definitely a contender in my search. If money wasn't a concern for me, I'd buy a WR-R and be done with my search. But, money is a concern, unfortunately. So I can't ignore the $2K difference in price.
EDIT: I see Heoz linked to the ADV thread. Scan through it for legit info from actual owners.

Buy a used YAMAHA R/X and BAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMM you got the best of both worlds. _________________ 2008 WR250X Gearing: 13t - 48t Power Commander 5 / PC-V Airbox Door Removed - Flapper glued - AIS removed FmF Q4 Bridgestone Battlax BT-003rs

I've been looking, and have only found 1 used WR in my area (well, it was about 1.5 hours away). The shop was unwilling to move at all on price, so I had to pass. There's not many DS's in the used market around here. They don't seem very popular, unfortunately. Which sucks for me.

| Just wanted to say that I rode the CRF250L this weekend as it was on my radar because of price and the assumption that it would be similar to the WR.
I was greatly disappointed in the performance of the CRF. I was expecting alot more. It is not even in the same ballpark as the WR.
The CRF was the last thing I wanted to see before I made my decision on a purchase. I am now a proud owner of a 12 WR250R.
