Dead spot right at the bottom end

On my 08 WRR right off idle there is a dead spot. Once I give it gas it hesitates then goes.
Right now iI have the air box flapper glued open and all the EPA stuff disconnected and removed.
The only other thing is an FMF Q4 muffler.
FMF programmer comming as soon as the budget allows.
Any suggestions or anybody have this same issue?

Mine is completely stock and I have the same problem. I didn't notice the hesitation when I got the bike but it seemed to develop about 1000 miles later. I'm content with the stock horsepower, but I'd sure like to be able to get rid of that hesitation without having to buy a programmer since money is kind of tight right now.

Mine did the same thing, programmer worked a miracle for me. I lucked up and found a used FMF unit, but I'd consider a new one worth every penny. You all got anything you can pawn? Just kidding, I know how it is to be tight on money. But a programmer belongs at the top of the goodies list, in my opinion.

The programmer smartens the bike up a fair deal, even without the pipe. Smooths a lot of the 'ticks' that seem to come with a new stock setup. If you've eliminated all the emissions crap, opened it up and don't have the programmer, it's running real lean...the bike already runs lean from the crate.

I appreciate the input, programmer will be the next thing coming.
Now I wonder, am I doing damage riding the way it is?
When I got the bike "used" the original muffler didn't come with the bike, it had the DRD and I changerd it out for the FMF.
The power is fine with me accept that hesitation. I do a lot of tight woods.
The stock gearing is fun cause it encourages me to keep a good pace in the woods

Well...I know of some guys who ride it piped and whatnot without the programmer...I was told by Yamaha that with the stock settings already lean, running it perf'd without some form of fuel programmer will lean it out a lot more and the risk of doing serious damage (something they said could easily happen) was something I didn't want to entertain.
