Looking at an '09 with 1600 miles. What should I look for or ask about other than the obvious?
Did '09's have the fuel pump issues?

No. Only some 2008's had the fuel pump issue.

I was told by those that know that pretty much the only changes after the fuel pump upgrade model were stickers/graphics.

If it's an excellent bike and you get it at a good price... 'ya done good! thumb

Bike is in great shape. He needs $4700 to get out of his loan which I think is a bit high. There is a WR450F near here with 160 miles on it for $4200 but I really don't want an F and my legs are too short...

$4700 might be a bit steep. Only you can decide that.

BUT... WR250R's aren't easy to come by in some regions.

Case in point, see my thread about picking one up tomorrow.

https://wr250rforum.forumotion.com/t7066-i-pick-it-up-nex-saturday

My cash purchase price OTD will be $5900. Once my rebates are back, I'll have $5500 in my '12 WR.

Agreed, my dealer gave me an EXCELLENT price. Your mileage at a dealer could vary considerably.

That being said, sticker for a new WR250R is $6500+.

IF a regional dealer in your area isn't as hungry as mine was (plus I've known him for several years), one may not do as well. Either way, you'll be saving from $800 to $1800 for the '09 (which is essentially the same bike as my '12 model).

Bottom line: Think 1600 miles is worth saving $800 to $1800?

If the bike is in excellent shape and the miles were easy miles... it's just now good and broken in!

Best of luck whatever you decide!

Don't know how it works. My dealer gave me two $200 rebate certificates to mail in once I take delivery (accompanied with the bike's VIN.)

Sounds like a good deal to me. 1600 miles is nothing if the bike was properly broken in & not abused by the PO. You get the benefit of having the bike already broken in & any factory defects should have shown up by now so check it out good & take it for a test ride. If it seems solid, go for it.
