... and thanks for all the fish.
I'm selling my 2009 WR250X tomorrow. It's been a great bike for 5 riding seasons and 16K km (was not my main bike.)
And this forum has been a really good resource for tech info!
Although I do have off road 21/18 rims (from Wheeling) with knobbies, I rode it on pavement 95% of the time.
After having GoRace rebuild the suspension the bike was great on twisty roads.
My only real complaint was lack of power for passing on tight twisty roads.
I'll be replacing it with a 2015 KTM 690 Enduro R, but I'll run 80/20 street/dirt tires on it.
I will very rarely take it off road, but it will see lots of gravel/dirt roads of varying 'quality.'
66 HP should make for safer passing, but I'll miss not having to check/adjust valves.
The KTM needs valve clearance checks every 10K km, so I'll just check them every winter.
Also, the KTM will have ABS (defeatable for dirt.) As I get older (mid 50's) I think ABS probably
stops shorter than I can. That's a big plus because deer like tackling my bikes!
I have already recommended the wr250rforum to my WR's new owner.
Hopefully he'll post pics of his other Yamahas, he races vintage classes.
