| Still not getting it. Fenders have been that way for a decade.
Was it blocking your vision when the front end is in the air ? You'll need to learn how to position your body so you can look around the front wheel. {;-)~
I mean: You do realize that is a built-in, forward throwing mud flap right ? ...that you catch-up with that mud milli-moments later ?
I was actually thinking about slotting the back of my F. fender so it passes air on my 450. It's like an air dam when the front end is in the air. I can use IT to steer vs the gyroscopic action of the front wheel !
My sumo doesn't do that. Then again, the sumo won't pick the front end up at 50 plus MPH.
Looks like a clean exorcism though. Nice job.

A) You don't have to get it. B) Just because fenders have been that way doesn't mean they're not butt ugly. C) Maybe dirt bike fenders have been that way....but my X is not a dirt bike D) I'm not the first to chop the front fender E) I'm not the first to think the stocker is butt ugly F) It's purely an aesthetic thing. _________________ 2008 WR250X Gearing: 13t - 48t Power Commander 5 / PC-V Airbox Door Removed - Flapper glued - AIS removed FmF Q4 Bridgestone Battlax BT-003rs

| That looks much better than the stock, white looks good to me - now your bike has the right amount of Yami blue! If you find it doesn't work as well in the rain, just get a spare stock one to throw on for trips, if you do multi-day trips on yours...

| Looks good What paint did you use, and do you know how long it is supposed to hold up before you have to respray it? | |

| Paint: Krylon Fusion I don't expect to be repainting much at all. I'm not that particular. I guess the underside might get dinged up a bit, especially once I get my Distanzias mounted and start hitting more off-road opportunities....but that's what winters are for. _________________ 2008 WR250X Gearing: 13t - 48t Power Commander 5 / PC-V Airbox Door Removed - Flapper glued - AIS removed FmF Q4 Bridgestone Battlax BT-003rs

| Step 2 - rear fender...a work in progress. First step on rear fender modification: Special thanks to soupsandwich.... I think the blue will become black on the rear fender next time I get motivated to modify. Gonna let the white paint set for a while before I start sticking tape to it. _________________ 2008 WR250X Gearing: 13t - 48t Power Commander 5 / PC-V Airbox Door Removed - Flapper glued - AIS removed FmF Q4 Bridgestone Battlax BT-003rs

| The screwball I bought my bike from hacked the front fender so that it looks and works like the silly-assed fender on the GS BWMs. I have to button up like it's a rain storm on dirt roads as the front tire flings everything into my face. Form follows function and without a function this silly fender has to go.
Before I bite on a new $30 fender from Bike Bandit, I wonder if anyone has tried the Acerbis aftermarket fender for the WR250F on an X or R? It looks fine, will probably be tougher than the stock Yamaha fender, is blue, and is $25 shipped.

| The tire is so forward of the end of the fender that far too much of the crap the tire picks up flings up and ahead of the wheel and right into my face. Riding in the rain is miserable and I'm coated with muck from the front wheel. Originally, the rear fender was equally engineering-disabled and I had muck strips front and back when I came home from work in the rain. I ordered the stock front fender last Saturday. The problem should be solved by the end of the week. | |

| I went back to full stock. My nod to fashion was totally by accident, but I failed to notice I'd ordered a black front until I opened the box. With the stripped graphics and black front and back, I'm pretty happy with the look. On my trip around Lake Superior, I greatly appreciated the front extension, since we were rained on every day of the trip for a little or a lot. The front 4" of the fender was well coated with road muck that would have been in my face otherwise. | |
