- If anyone is interested in buying one of these slip-ons let me know .. I have one new in the box I am planning to put on ebay this weekend. The part number is GYT-32C93-01-AL. I bought this pipe when I bought my bike and decided to do some other mods before I replace my exhaust.
. What is your asking price going to be?

- I didn't see anyone answer the part of your original question about how loud. The GYTR is crazy loud. 102db. Offroad-use only loud.
I don't think there is a spark arrestor, either, so no trail riding without getting a ticket or worse yet, starting a fire that burns a bunch of forrest and/or peoples homes. Depending on your use, the lack of spark arrestor might make a difference. If you ride only in the city, then no big deal, but country riding, even gravel roads, you really should have one.
If you are going to re-pipe, maybe look at a FMF Q4. Even those are twice as loud as the stock 88db can, but they do improve power dramatically with airbox and programmer mods. The race pipes, that are 102db or so are 2 to 4 times louder than the Q4 and the gains, at that point, are probably not much. You said you wanted to retain the heat shield. Is that because you have dirtbagz or the like? I know some have found or made heat shields that work with other pipes. Might be an option. Umm there is NO WAY the GYTR is "Crazy Loud" Not sure where you got your 102db thing from, it is 96db to meet current AMA rules. Is that louder than stock? Yes, the stock pipe is 88db. If you see in the link I provided, I took back to back sound readings of all my pipes. They were all over 94 db when at higher RPM...even the OEM pipe And yes, the GYTR pipe has a spark arrestor, so no worries there...Plus, if noise is that big of an issue, I am pretty sure the sound reducer from Dubach racing fits and will help to quit the pipe down. Just have not gone out and bought one/got a firm answer from Dubach yet if it does or not...(They supposedly make the pipe for Yamaha)
Get the pipe and ride...no worries! I dunno where he got the 102db, but I got 110db from your post at TT. I also took the following sound measurements:
GYTR: idle: 94db max: 110db
That's flat out too damn loud.

| Anyone know how the GYTR pipe compares to the Yosh Rs2 sound-wise? Rs2's the only other (than stock) pipe I've heard on a WRR. | |

That's flat out too damn loud. Read again and try too understand. Yes, the GYTR is louder than stock, BUT, the stock pipe is 88db at idle, AND, the stock pipe is OVER 94db above idle...I have the GYTR pipe and it easily passed the very strigent 94db sound check at the Dual Sport ride I rode in last fall. Trust me, if it was too loud, they wont let you participate. End of Story. You want to fart around with your stock heavy restrictive exhaust, go right on ahead, some of us want a nice alternative to the original pipe and for me and many others, the YAMAHA GYTR silencer fits the bill.

| I have heard that the Non-USA GYTR pipes ARE loud. They are also different pipes. They made the USA GYTR pipes AMA sound compliant, the rest of them are not. Mine is stamped 96db, WITH a spark arrestor, two things I do not believe the other markests have....so there will be a difference. | |

| I ended up making a spark arrestor from a stainless steel strainer mesh. Probably not as good as a bought one but better than nothing. The Australian GYTR mufflers are different from the US models in the way that they have an O2 sensor situated near the slip on joint. I think this helps with fuel mapping or something. The end cap is longer than what I've seen on the US version also. The specs for the Australian muffler are 92.5db at 5000 RPM, we have a 94 db legal limit also. Mine does't seem excessively loud but does have nice deep bop bop.........sweet | |

| Almost nine months since anyone has commented on this topic. How are those GYTR mufflers holding up out there? I'm looking at getting one soon. Have the FMF programmer, will be leaving the stock header on. | |

| Not sure what answer you are looking for but the GYTR line of aftermarket equipe' is as good as it gets.
Just don't expect miracles from any pipe you get. ...and realistically, it's hard to buy a bad one performance -wise.
Noise-wise; Season to taste.
