| i have my stock wr250x hub and a wheel off of a wr250f and i cant seem to find out what spokes to use. i know people have done it. the spokes pictured are off of the 250f wheel i took apart and they are too short because of where they exit the hub almost 180 degrees from each other. |

| Don't know but I wonder if it would be as simple as using the stock R spokes? Maybe they use the same hub between R and X? IF not, maybe wheeling cycle suppy can help if you buy the spokes from them. | |

| Be interesting to see how that all turns out. Let us know what size spokes you use. I'm thinking of trying some rims myself and be different. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

| the spokes i have that are off of a wr250f are the same as the wr250r or look the same length. getting into this i thought that all i would need are the wrr spokes. wrr spokes cross 2 times wrx spokes cross 3 times or something like that. i guess i need to call someone who makes custom spokes |

| The hubs on the WR 250 R/X are wider than a WR 250 F. So the angle of the nipple hole in the rim would be different. The spokes are different on the WR 250 F than on the WR 250 R. I had Buchananspokes.com drill a pair of Excel rims for me. I used WR250R hubs and spokes to build a second set of wheels for my WR250. Maybe Buchanan can make special spokes for you.

| No WR250R hubs for a WR250R. 21" & 18" rims , spokes and hubs. Cost under $600 for 2nd set of wheels. | |

| Looking at getting a WR250X and putting the "R" front wheel on. Has anyone done this? Will the hub fit, just need to mod a new mount for a larger disc??? Or, the 2 hubs are different width or something?
Also if the 21" will mount without too much hassle then the forks would need to come up a ways, is there room to raise the forks?

By far the easiest way is to get an X hub / brake disc and then get a 21 inch wheel laced to it. You could mount an R hub / brake disc but then you have to mess around with the brake caliper. Either way, you don't have to mess with the forks / clearance. Contact Forrest at Wheeling Cycle Supply about purchasing just the front wheel.

| An "off the shelf" 21 inch rim will not lace up properly. The angles of the spokes will not match the angle of the holes in the rim because of the hub design. You won't notice it too much until you get close to the correct torque. The nipple is pulling at a different angle than the spoke and the spoke bends just above the nipple. The rim should be drilled to fit properly.

I'd be interested to see the cost break down there. Front Hub: $100 Rear Hub: $118 Shipping for Hubs: ??? from the buchanan website it looks like Lace/True = $97/wheel Spoke Kit = $99/wheel Excel Rims = $150+ / wheel That all adds up to much more than $600 for the set. Even if you lace them yourself it looks like it would come out more than that. If it can be done for $600 I'll be a seriously happy camper.

| The yamaha rear spokes are cheeper from yamaha, the rim will cost more oem. About 30-35 bucks to lace local,or time to learn to do it your self. Not as hard as you may think. I use a suzki front on mine, saved a bunch so it could be done for under 600.Just got to pick and choose what you want or need. http://www.supermotojunkie.com/showthread.php?95982-cheep-21-inch-wheel&highlight=cheep+21 | |

| That looks like a good option for me. I'm a cheap bastard.
Anyone happen to know of a rear wheel with the same axle size I might be able to convert as well?
*edit* Found this http://www.clubchopper.com/forums/metric-chopper-talk/77043-jap-bikes-fork-tube-sizes-neck-bearings-axle-diameters.html
