Does the WRR crash pretty well?

May sound like an odd question but still…some bikes take those inevitable low speed sand/mud dumps better than others.

Example would be an older KLR650 (with rad guards) in a low speed dump. They do real well, the new gen KLR on the other hand crashes poorly (expensive bodywork damage) with about any kind of dump.

Currently torn between the higher priced (First choice) WRR, and the lower priced KLX. I’ve heard that the KLX takes those low speed dumps pretty well.

How about some first hand WR crash reports? Thanks!

Oh I love that last one!!! Crash reports 61865 Yeah, it's a pretty solid bike. The one thing that might snap is the mirrors, so many of us have gone with aftermarket ones that either fold away or mount under the bars. Other than that, you pick it back up, get on and ride. It's a tough little bike.

Yeah you only make that mistake once I think and then it becomes second nature. Where was that shot taken? Looks like a pretty decent ride.

Which shot?

The first one was here - http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=456047

And the second one was taken when a few of us were just playing around here locally - same spot this pic was taken . . .

Crash reports 851577

My bike has been down exactly three times. Those two in the pictures, and a third that was caught in a video. All three of them were to the left. Hadn't thought about that before Crash reports Suspect

There's a lot of advantages to crashing on the same side all the time
You always have a pretty side to display
Crashing to the left will never damage your radiator or scratch up your pretty muffler

I say keep up the good work

A 40mph dump on the left side on a snowy highway resulted in a bent foot peg, broken gytr flag handguard, rashed up bar end, and rashed aftermarket shifter (stock would have bent into the case), and tweaked the bars in the clamps. A similar drop on the right about 1/4 mile later at ~20mph bent the other foot peg, broke the other handguard, jammed the throttle tube so that it wouldn't twist smoothly (needed adjustment, nothing broke), and pushed the bars back into position. Didn't break either mirror or turn signals.

Countless other drops at various, usually slower, speed and all off-road except for once in a parking lot (forgot the kickstand) and once on a severely sidways sloped intersection, resulted in no damage other than a bent stock shifter and bent levers (until I replaced them with the Zeta Folding levers, which survived the above crashed just fine).

Yeah, they crash well.

Thanks all. Excellent!

Solid’s what I wanted to hear.

Those KLX thoughts are quickly fading…

I seem to mostly crash on left side too. Maybe it’s a right hand/left hand thing where lefties crash on the right side mostly.

Wicked cloud of dust Kodak moment, Krabill!

It’s looking like I have a taker for the XR this weekend.

Been looking at used WRR’s for two weeks with no luck so far.

The search is fun though. Those old haunting lyrics “it’s not the kill, it’s the thrill of the chase” are so true when looking for a specific type used bike.

Though, anything could happen. Do really like those ’10 gold forks. J

This is what happened when I dropped my bike in the mud:

I dropped it 10 times in a single ride. All slow speed, if any speed. Only damage we bent levers that still worked, scratches and I ground down the ends of my new grips!
