Just wondering what kind of mileage you are getting off road ? I was out this afternoon rippin up the fire lanes and 68 mi later the fuel light is on GAHHHH I was thinking more like 85 or so. I am running 13 48 fmf power core opened up airbox and yes I probably ride it a little harder than I should Very happy

The reason you are getting shitty mileage is because... "I am running 13 48 fmf power core opened up airbox and yes I probably ride it a little harder than I should"

Reschly - I have 1,600 miles on my completely stock wr250r - total miles divided by total US gallons put in gives me a 63 mpg average.
That of course is using the odometer to figure out miles. I ride moderately - 30% pavement, 70% fire roads.

36?! My 95 XT 350 gets better than that, something is seriously wrong with your bike man. You're getting worse mileage than my 82 BMW R650 LS.

A 250 should NEVER get less than 50 at the worst.

Easy now Tib...some ride more agressively than others, some have quite a few mods, all of which affect the fuel consumption. thumb I know my old XL thumper doesn't get good fuel mileage. It used to but then it began to flutter due to too small a main jet. Now it runs ok with a bigger jet but the mileage went anal. Rolling Eyes

No I don't think there is anything wrong with the bike, rider probably, my bike was purchased to be used as a full bore dirt machine, because in wisconsin the only way i can trail ride is to buy a dual sport and keep it plated and street legal and i can access many trail systems. other wise i would just ride my yz250f, but thats not legal i can only ride that on moto tracks or private property or sanctioned events. bottom line i beat the livin shit out of it beavis

Well there are plenty of threads here and other forums about fuel mileage of this bike. Do a search if you want to know what others are getting, but like you said in your last post... "bottom line i beat the livin shit out of it".

What did you expect? Your mileage sucks for a reason. If you really need to know, I have a full FMF system with Q4, PowerBomb, and programmer, and the airbox mods and I get about 60 MPG. Everyone rides their bike different and no matter what mods you have or even if you have the SAME mods, your mileage is NOT going to be the same as my mileage if you "beat the livin shit out of it". Also think about what fuel you are using and what fuel I am using. Different parts of the world have different fuels, not to mention stuff like altitudes differences, and barometric pressure differences. There are lots of variables that go into what mileage a certain engine will get on any particular day. I have said it before and I will say it again. WTF does it matter what your mileage is anyhow? If you are so concerned about mileage you shouldn't be riding the livin shit out of it to begin with. Hell, I can go buy a new Honda Hybrid car and drive the living shit out of it and get worse mileage than my big old GMC truck if I try hard enough.

I'm averaging around 80 now it seems. I ride harder it goes down a bit, but I'm not complaining. thumb

80mpg, huh? How come in another thread you admit to this . . .

SheWolf wrote:
I fill mine till it doesn't burp anymore, and I stand it on the level, not on the kick stand. Last fillup my light flickered on at 86, but I rode fairly hard on that tank.

When it is fairly well known that the fuel light comes on after using ~1.5 gallons. 86 miles / 1.5 gallons = 57 mpg, not 80. Just sayin . . .

My fuel light came on at 129km this week. When I calculated the milage at the pump it came to about 6l/100km. So I think that's about in line with the original poster. All my riding was in the city. Not dirt as all the dirt is too frozen and muddy for my liking yet. I do push the bike hard. I figure that throttle stops and rev limiters were meant to be used. Very happy

I could never stand for a 250 getting worse mileage than my old 440 KZ...

My 350 is averaging about 4.5 - 5 depending on where I ride

I can do 175 km (about 110 miles) before I have to switch to reserve in the city. That's using about 7 - 8 liters

6 l/100 km(39mpg)? I get that out of my Goldwing commuting. I'm getting about 64 mpg on the R² (onroad only so far)

Hmmmm I see then I am probably a half gallon short...

The one thing Ive really noticed about the fuel light is that it means its easy wheelie time! amazing what 6-7 pounds of fuel will do and I think my backpack counter balance helped too. Pretty sure I pulled a solid 4 seconds today.... deal

That's fine, but I dare you to keep up with me on my daily commute with you on your 'wing'. Very happy

If the weather holds, next week I'll get to try out my new 'short cut' too! That will probably decrease the milage a bit. Especially if I get stuck in the mud with the stock X tires.

I ran out of gas this morning.
I started iit up after i got out of the grocery. Before i got my helmet and gloves on it died. UH-oh I didn think that I was out of gas so I pressed the go button but no start...... Then I got on the bike pressed the go button once upright and she fired right up! Promptly scooted across the parking lot to fuel up.

Took 2.13 gallons to fill to the top of the filler kneck turned 500 miles just before filling so I have an easy reference other than trip meters, Im lazy about fuel economy.

I suspect you are right, since wings have been shown to perform poorly on single track.. or double track ... or any track and the only person slower than me on dirt is probably a 3 year old kid on a tricycle (it takes a 5 year old on road). There's a reason it is languishing in the garage while the R² is now the commuter - fun

Just filled up again yesterday and got 4l/100km.
No cold morning starts on that tank and less warmup time. That hints that the cold-start circuit really enriches it.
