What Did You Do To Your WR Today??

I took the dimension from the actuator valve and machined from black Delrin a disk to take its place. I used some M3 flathead screws and locknuts to attach the lock tab.


Finished product installed on the airbox. No performance gain (obviously) but I prefer the complete, clean look.

I installed a 1.5 gal Kolpin gas container onto the side of my WRR.  Let's go exploring.  No more worries about running out while in the forest.  

Installed 47 tooth rear sprocket, reinstalled cycra probend hand guards using a triple tree mount. Had to get creative to make it work as it seems the stock bars are about 1" to short on each side to use the mounts the way they were designed.

Today I removed the huge, ugly tail light assembly and replaced it with a DRC Edge tail light kit. Plus, I installed slim rear turn indicators to match.

If you didnt already seal around the drc tail light lens and where the wires go into it with some silicone.

This tail light is completely unsealed, I found this out after mine got wet, I took it apart and dried it out but it only lasted a few months then burned out.

Im back to a modded stocker, its big n ugly but last more than a few offroad rides lol.

The next tail light I buy will be a gasgas or ktm one, they arent led but they last untill you smash em.

Thanks for the heads up on the possibility of leakage. I went down to basement pulled the light and sealed it the best I could...time will tell.

This week I mounted Kenda 270's to my WRX. Followed advice on forum, 4.60/17 front and 5.10/17 on back. I still need to break them in but so far I am pretty happy with the results. I live in a rural town with an 1/8 inch of sand on the pavement at the corners. Having some grip has greatly improved traction. I have carved some tight turns to see if the knobs along the side would make the tires walk in the corners and have had no issues. I will test at Moab next month. I have ridden there previously on an xr650l with similar tires so I will see how the 17"s fare.

I washed it.

Finished wet sanding and polishing the paint job, rode, joined forum, and gonna ride again.

Just changed the rear tire...MT21. I've had good results with this tire. 

Maybe not the longest wearing tire, but overall, It handles everything I throw at it quite well.

I rode it past the 10,000 mile mark.

 

In a couple weeks I hope to be pulling it's heart out for some serious elective surgery.  

Over the weekend I got it very, very dirty at the Big Woods 200 dual sport ride, Wabeno, WI (self proclaimed Dual Sport Capital of the World).

Took her for a ride and was able to give her the supreme west Texas test. Drove her into a very stiff head wind maybe 25 with 30mph gusts. In fifth, I was able to hold 62 actual. I was pretty happy with that. Then tested her in the crosswinds, and she was great. Now I have confidence she'll handle anything I can throw at her. I just don't know how long my carcass can stay in the saddle. OH, btw, I got 75 mpg on my previous trip. 2.7 gal. and 210 miles. No I didn't go 70mph, I took a leisurely trip that day.

Put on a new D606 rear tire, new front IRC and did the BCorma newbie Hard B ride today in Chiliwack BC. There were A sections, but the B was hard enough, hence the name Hard B.  There was also a C loop for the big adventure bikes.
With the 12/48 gearing, I cleared all the mud hole, root section, loose long hill climbs and slick creek crossing. It was a great day and a good turn out. I saw another 8 or more WRs, but I rode with some DRZs. Best part, I did not drop the bike once!  Excellent traction from the 606.

Preped the bike for a trip next week. Oh boy! Time to ride! 

Put on 60 miles today and passed 3000 miles.

gutted out my stock muffler, sounds soo sick!!! 

Took the stock GYTR tailbag off. Works/looks great for what it is but found myself using a backpack more often than not. And now 5 inches easier to throw a leg over.

Mod before that...Mobile 1 moto specific. Like it alot. Shifted well before and now even better. Probably not going back to dino on this one.

Like this R2 alot. Brilliant as real world dualsports go.

Only have 250 miles on my 2015 so far....today....Lowered rear with shock mod, lowered front 3/8 inch, installed lead for Gerbing gear, lowered rear brake foot pedal, made sure suspension settings are set as stock so I could adjust as the bike breaks in, checked chain to make sure it is not too tight (I run it a bit looser than factory says), and drank two beers....

Installed my Wolfman Bag and Garmin Montana 600 today. This is my first Wolfman piece of gear and it appears to be as high a quality as everyone said it is. Also got my Jared Scaggs billet rack. Haven't installed it yet but the thing is beautiful...I may just frame it

BTW, got an email from Al Jesse today....appears he will be making racks and small cases for the WR after the first of the year....looks like I will hold off buying soft bags or Pelican cases....a pair of small 24 liter cases would be just fine with me :)

Fitted a pair of Hel braided lines today. WOW, what a difference. I just did a short ride around the block but the feel is so much better. New fluid and a bleed may have helped as well.

I did make it hard for myself sucking the front reservoir dry twice and didn't seat the banjo on the caliper properly. It took me ages to work out why I couldn't get a pedal and had heaps of air.

Also fitted a Scaggs luggage rack the other day as well.

Looking good Tewster...Is that bra type item part of the tank bag unit?..oh and are you planning on some kind of Aux fuel supply.. or a larger gas tank.. or as is..lol after driving a bike with a huge gas reserve i'm finding it hard to get my head wrapped around the stock  WR gas tank.

It seems there are many going to a second light weight bike for all the gnarly stuff the heavier units bock at.I'm thinking of mounting soft bags  on the back for those narrow tight spots/goat paths .. obstacles  that may try and shave something off the back,.. look forward to seeing your mods evolve.

How about posting up a picture of those lines mounted{do they have any hold down points/clamps to the bike besides the factory spots?}
